Brightonuk
Anyone have a template for the interior panels for an S3I am thinking of purchasing some CF sheeting and make my own I did fabricate these from ABS but it would be a much better fit if I had a template and work
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted April 7, 2020 Area Representative Share Posted April 7, 2020 Historically these were made by the late "Richard in France" but where his templates went, I don't know. Certainly Norman Verona fitted CF panels when he rebuilt his car. This is his out-of-date site but the e-mail address may still work. http://www.frenchblat.com/
SM25T
Is carbon fibre sheet a good idea for the interior panels next to your thigh and torso ? I know it is very strong and light, but when it does break, doesn't it shatter/splinter ?
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted April 7, 2020 Area Representative Share Posted April 7, 2020 I suppose the answer to that is don't put the car into anything solid! I wouldn't want shards of CF from a front mudguard flying into my face either.
SM25T
I was thinking of the horrors of a side impact.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 7, 2020 Leadership Team Share Posted April 7, 2020 Steve, your carbon sill protectors are actually fitted the wrong way round, the large side should be to the inside of the car with the smaller lip on the outside. You're not the first!Stu.
Brightonuk
They are all one piece from the inner panel.I formed them the best I could I am not happy with the way they came out but it was first attempt with a heat gun and a wooden work benchAlong those lines I remember seeing CF covers for the rear lip as mine are getting chipped from the seatbelts any idea where I find them?
