Roll cage - imperial to metric chassis

Richy,

The imperial roll bar/cages have a longer spigot that locates in the socket in the seat back bulkhead (adjacent to the standard lap and diagonal seatbelt boss) than the metric ones.

It may be possible to cut that spigot down on an imperial cage to fit a metric chassis, but, otherwise, no, an imperial cage won't fit on a metric car.

To fit an metric cage to a imperial chassis you need a spacer under the spigot, to fit an imperial cage you will need to cut down that spigot and reweld the nut on it, that said there are a number of cages and rollbars that or not bolted at that place, they are bolted down just at the front and the rear.

Thanks to you both for your replies.

There's an imperial cage for sale on eBay for £180, so I hoped it might fit as seemed a good price.

I will continue to be on the lookout for a metric cage, then.

Cheers,

Richy
