Tazio
On the home straight finishing my BDR refurb, one quick question, with the original narrow track front end, complete with trunnions, what initial ride heights front and rear should I aim for? rj
That depends on which tyres you're on.I would initially aim for horisontal lower wishbones at the front and then around two cm rake measured under the chassis where the rear "leg" of the wishbone enters the chassis and at the front edge of the rear wing. Tazio
RJ, thanks for your suggestion, perhaps I should have clarified something, I have had a number of 7s, and have been setting them up for a few years, my question was specifically focused on early cars ( the BD is 28 years old) and wondered if there was any specific narrow track/trunnion initial set up info or experience available. The car will be used principally on 13s , and occasionally on 14s,
Ian Macquarie
Here is a page from my Feb 1990 Assembly Guide which covers X/Flow and BDR
rj
Tazio, sorry. I was wondering as you usually are very well founded in your posts.
Tazio
Thanks Ian, much appreciated, very helpful. Also raises the issue of Castor, seeing as the figures on the diagram seems to suggest it's adjustable, on my other car I set it to the standard 2,2,2 washers but with the BD, the wishbone set up is different. I'll do a bit of digging. And RJ, thanks, it was just me not being too clear in the initial post.Alan
Ian Macquarie
The only adjustable parts on the on the standard 1990 model are toe-in and ride height (via shims under the springs - not threaded dampers)
Tazio
Ian, I have the threaded dampers so I can have a play.....
