DVLA - How long to register car

Anyone any idea how long it’s taking DVLA to register a new Caterham these days ***taps fingers impatiently***

Sent my paperwork away 5th December 17 got the documents 4th January 18. I registered mine with a number plate I had on retention.

Edit: Money wasn't taken until end of December.

It's not a great service and frustratingly DVLA will not respond to any queries to check that they have received your application until 6 weeks have elapsed. Mine took just over 5 weeks at this time of year.

Mine took about 5 weeks. Then it came through with a 15 plate instead of a retained number, because although the registration application had been submitted in time the DVLA didn’t look at it for about 4 weeks by which time the retention certificate had expired. 

They admitted the delay and rescued my number but that took another month. 

Not the sharpest organisation in my experience, best to keep notes and proof of posting for everything.
