Club Trackday Programme for 2018 - Provisional Schedule

Here’s the story…  Dave and I started on our mission to rebuild the Club’s trackday activity in 2016 with three events; a reasonable beginning.  Encouraged by that (and having learned a few of the ropes) we built on this foundation in 2017 with eight trackdays – and were pleased to see strong support right through to the final event of the year; all looking good.  So what about 2018?

How about a total of ten events, including an expanded Novices Day, four new locations (well, either ‘new-new’ or new in terms of the Club’s recent history), two Grand Prix Circuits and a rather special double-header in the East of the country, as well as some of our traditional favourites?  And some space left in the calendar for an additional event, a European trackday, if we can arrange it (although no promises on that for now…).  What’s not to like?

Our programme features a mix of Club-exclusive full days with a number of events where we will be offering Club-exclusive sessions on dates that are shared with other organisations.  Some of our days will be run as Open Pit Lane (OPL) but, inline with the Club ethos and recognising the growing number of less-experienced members taking part, there will also be a focus on events where we will start in Sessions (grouped according to ability and experience) before moving to OPL as circumstances allow.  Although we can’t promise ‘hot-laps’ for this season, wherever we go there will be the usual Club camaraderie – a social event ahead of the trackday, our friendly instructors, the ESV in attendance when possible and the usual Seven-related banter.  And finally, we will continue do our best to provide our ‘Club trackday experience’ at lowest possible cost – aiming simply to end the season without needing a subsidy from Club coffers – so great value as well.

So read on to see the provisional programme (as usual, we will firm up on details and open for bookings in good time ahead of each event) – and get those dates in your diary!

Looks like a great selection of tracks, especially the double header.

is there any reason Anglesey is at the rainy end of the year. As someone who drives to all the tracks, the chances of a washout or even damp is significant which is enough to put me off booking with the club and searching out a summer session. I've had more than my fair share of wet Mountain biking weekends in Wales, when the rest of the country is dry, to make an 8 hr drive with possible rain a real downer.

Would love to see it in June, July or August but appreciate I'm probably one of a few people who might book coming from Kent.

Online booking will open mid-January (we usually aim for two months ahead of each event, to help balance and manage the workload); there will also be a 'flyer' type of form in Lowflying, most likely in the February edition.
