E.g. straight swap, legal, relay issues, etc, etc?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 25, 2016 Member Share Posted September 25, 2016 There's a lot on different options in the archives, with some photos for comparison. You can check for illegality by absence of E markings: what do these have?I wouldn't expect any problems with relays or fuses with LED side and tail lights. For indicators there's a cheap agnostic relay which seems to work fine. Please could anyone who tries different bulbs or lamps take photos of before and after, or with one side replaced?Jonathan
7 wonders of the world
You can check for illegality by absence of E markings: what do these have? Not necessarily the case, as an 'E' marked plus an 'E' marked lens does not always mean you have an 'E' marked light assembly.

john milner
I had cheap LEDs for a while via Ebay. Very happy with them when they worked but they didn't last very long and blew fuses so I went back to standard.
SM25T
I use the Cree T5 sidelight bulbs in the 7 ..... single LED chip and projector lens built in to the bulb Great white light beam. Doesn't illuminate the headlamp bowl but a pencil beam forwards. At a recent sunset photo shoot with a load of 7s ..... some shots involved sidelights on . .. Mine looked like headlamps !! twincamtim
SM25T,Do you men these? If so, do they need a relay or are they straight swaps?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/151744572665?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=27378760866&rlsatarget=pla-181484340306&adtype=pla&poi=&googleloc=9046619&device=c&campaignid=620865095&crdt=
SM25T
No. They are bayonet fitting. The ones I use are equivalent to the glass pea bulbs with flat tongue connectar and two wire contacts. Same lens technology. Also a lot cheaper.

john milner
The ones I had were a straight swap and when they worked were very good a bit like a 6V moped headlight. Lasted about a week though.
