jp7
Hi all,I'm going to buy a half hood from SBFS and i quite like the stripe or no 7 design on the roof..Will the stitching that holds the stripe/7, cause it to leak water when it rains?Any thoughts gratefully recieved.cheersAndy
Mrp
Hi AndyI have a stripe down the centre of my Half Hood, see my signiture picture. I have been out an many rain storms without any leaks.RegardsMrp
Grandmaster Flatcap
Short answer is yes.Longer answer is I have a hood with a 7 on it. If the hood is up and I'm driving along and then it starts to rain it's OK. If the hood is up and the car stands in the rain, then I start to drive it drips on my left shoulder. In other words it seems it leaks when it gets saturated.Hope that helps
Boris
I have a stripe on mine and have experienced no leaks
Ian B
Nigel, this or a tent waterproofer may help
john milner
I was surprised at how well my non-striped half hood keeps out the rain. A lengthy downpour will cause it to drip and then need drying out. For any more than a light shower I use the full hood where possible.
Area Representative Kingsley Young Posted March 26, 2015 Area Representative Share Posted March 26, 2015 You will find that SBFS put a sealing stick over the stitching on the under side of the hood, that seems to keep the water out fine.

SM25T
Graingers brush on tent waterproofer once a year keeps it all snug.
6speedmanual
It adds weight and complexity. Go Aero!
jp7
:) I had aero screens once but a very near miss with a large crow convinced me to put the windscreen back on. It missed my head by a couple of inches, and exploded on the diagonal of the rollbar, covering me in goo! Even with a helmet on it kind of spooked me, I presume a visor would stop something like that but I didn't want to find out.....andy
john aston
A well proofed half hood should let in no water whatsoever - and mine doesn't.
