Engine out - what to do?

Hi all,

My engine and gearbox are coming out this weekend and I am pondering what useful jobs I can do whilst it is out.  Cleaning the chassis rails and grot traps and adding dinitrol is on the list already, but is there anything else I can usefully do?

Change the CRB, change the engine oil, change the gearbox oil, replace the sump foam (if you have it - K series), replace the exhaust manifold gasket, clean the inside of the transmission tunnel....

Thanks both - engine oil is quite new so will save that if possible; gearbox is off for a rebuild and will be back on with a new clutch; no sump foam to change.

Change the clutch, pressure plate, CRB and spigot bearing / sleeve.

If K series, apply the cooling modification and possibly change the thermostat after drilling the whole (access is so much easier with the engine out).

Engine and Gearbox mounts.

Clean up the starter solenoid.

That should keep you busy

Another vote for the crank spigot bearing & sleeve - bit of a mare to remove but better than having to pull it all apart again if it fails.
