john aston
I really need to get a new screen as mine is badly cracked and pitted even if MOT legit. The plain glass one is £90 at Caterham but I did find the heated one very useful. Doesn't seem to be listed on their on line store- anybody know how much and how available please? Area Representative paul richards Posted February 8, 2015 Area Representative Share Posted February 8, 2015 New heated screens are £400+. If you have windscreen cover on your insurance policy then make a claim.
Juju
Why is it that these screens seem to get pitted? Mine is going to need replacing soon. The one in the tintop is completely bullet proof. I guess it is that the glass is poorer quality and less hardened during the manufacture?
Bricol
I think it's more likely the more vertical position of the screen - small hard objects hit it and get stopped. Tin top screen is more slopely so any impact is more glancing, plus a better air-flow to assist in carrying them up and over.A tin-top one once it's done enough miles looks as bad as an enjoyed Caterham one. A new one in either makes a world of difference.Bri
Nillbymouth
I suspect it's also due to the screen being much lower on the Caterham so it gets hit more by flying stones

Alastair B
John, is the insurance paying for the fitment to the frame?
SM25T
I am insured with MSM. Glass replacement excess is £75. This is waived if you fit it yourself. Six screws to stanchions and two wires for heater element. Simples. I wouldn't let a mobile screen company near it.
john aston
Ditto- my man Carl will sort it when the car wakes up next month. He charges reassuringly small fees- which is how you survive in Darlington.
