CheshireCat
Tillett seats are prone to scratches from sitting on grit and from feet whilst getting in and out of the car.Is there a recommended product / process for reducing the scratches ? StuB
Can't help with the scratches but I wondered if you could kit out your garage with one of these? It just means that you can only do round trips.http://www.assisticare.com/bath_hoists/images/bath_hoist_LRG.jpgSorry Clive
Juju
Maybe consider leather inserts? Oxted Trimmings do them and you can even select the stiching colour which looks great.
ECR
I guess that paint protection film might help ?
2GBR
Drill a 50mm hole with a tank cutter at the lowest point then brush the stones through also lets the rain water away, or to remove the scratches do it the same way as fibreglass
CheshireCat
Thanks for the replies.i was thinking more of how to get rid or reduce the appearance of existing scratches, so if the coating is like gel coat then what sort of polish ? TJG
I used a "back to black" car polish, worked well and much to my surprise didn't come off again on clothing.Tony
Ian Mackenzie
A good cutting compound will reduce the scratches, T cut scratch remover will also do the job...... Just don't do it too many times!cheersIan
Ivaan
Don't Tillett do a re-furbishing service?Any idea how much this is?
Cookie Monster
I had similar problems & tried a few things with little success. In the end I went for tillet pads from Oxted
Myles
I'd be slightly wary of polishing them - wet pixie-boots don't have a huge amount of grip at the best of times!I haven't covered mine in the Caterham (Tillet scratches would be the last of my cosmetic worries and the seats fit me very well) - but the knock-offs in my Westie are a different matter. They don't fit either myself or my partner particularly-well and so I fitted quite-expensive inflatable camping rollmats (!) My main reason for mentioning them is that, no matter what you do, stones and grit will get underneath them and these will scratch the seats. They can also puncture your rollmat :-(
Kal-El
You could try some Menzerna GZ13P Tripoli compound , followed by Menzerna Glossworks 16 polish. You'll also need a couple of mops for your drill. Its designed for use on plastics to remove scratches. Google 'The Polishing Shop'.P.
