Joachim Westermann
In the past we´ve bought spare parts from PTP. But since Richard Watson left the company, we have had a falling out. Any alternatives? QED?
oilyhands
PTP are now dead. Since you have asked I keep quite a large range of parts in stock, but there are other alternatives, rimmer brothers, brow and gammons etc. Oily
prangerman
APPLE MG near Gravesend also are a source. (I have no connection with them.) Peter
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 4, 2014 Member Share Posted August 4, 2014 Are any of the Chinese companies that bought bits of MG or are making similar new cars using engines based on the K series? Thanks Jonathan
tangomikeromeo
I found my local MG franchised service centre could get anything I've needed at Rimmer Bros prices but without passing on the delivery charge. But I'd try Oily first 😶🌫️
Area Representative bluenose Posted August 4, 2014 Area Representative Share Posted August 4, 2014 I think Apple MG was set up by some guys who used to run Fairways Rover fanchaise in Gravesend. Nick
revilla
@Jonathan - As I understand it the N-Series and TCi-TECH have changed so much that there is virtually no parts commonality. @Joachim - Don't overlook eBay. There are a lot of new/old stock parts to be had cheaply, and there are also a lot of good used parts to be had for peanuts. OK maybe for critical things you wouldn't want to buy used parts of unknown heritage but for electrical sensors / injectors / coil packs / belt & engine covers etc. etc. there is a lot of choice. I've bought enough bits to build a whole spare engine, almost entirely from eBay picking up bargains when they've come up cheap - the engine is now powering my car quite happily and I don't think I had a problem with even one single part from eBay.
