Cookie Monster
Looking to degrease the metal supports that go around the gas rings on the hob. Any recomended products?
Wrightpayne
What are they made of? Ally or Steel/enamel?  Caustic Soda alledgedly very good for removing burnt on residue on steel/enamel ones but I've never tried it. Definitely dont use caustic on ally.  I usually just put our steel ones in the dishwasher.  Ian
Paul Deslandes
If you can get them off and outside, white spirit works but can leave an odour.
Mort
Cillit Bang if you believe the adverts, Formula One if you don't.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 1, 2014 Member Share Posted August 1, 2014 As Ian says: what are they made of? I've never needed to use an organic solvent, just detergent. Jonathan
Doug phillips
I just use a brio pad, and then polish with autosolve. I like a shiny hob 😬
pugwash
Excellent, a hob degreasing thread with multiple suggestions as to how to do it! I wonder what the most o/t topic has ever been? Nice one Phil.
Ozzy
I have to say. I do believe our Phil is letting the side down somewhat  Maybe he's been on the juice, or else the missus is giving him some serious grief, and he's losing the will to live, and this is a cry for help before he tops himself 😬

You know what they say about the Queen -she thinks the whole world smells of fresh paint - well welcome to my world this weekend. Anyway I have caused some merryment They are made of metal but look like some sort of cast iron to me, slightly rough finish & not shiny
