Big Bad Baz
Following a recent MOT, my 7 has developed a sticky throttle problem. Start her up and the revs rise to 3000 and just sit there, sounding very noisy and embarrassing in public! The only cure I've found is whipping off the bonnet and nose and fiddling with the idle screw. This usually gets the revs down to a more normal 1000rpm, but chances are if I switch off and then go to start it again it'll be back up to 3000! Whilst playing with the idle screw, I noticed that the rubber on the "stop" for it has perished a bit: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3815/11405183823_f43f7b28c5_c.jpg Would this affect anything? Is it simply a "stop" for the screw, or does it move at all?
Stationary M25 Traveller
Sounds more like an air leak on the inlet somewhere. Split air hose ?
DJ.
Have you checked the throttle cable is OK, I had similar trouble once and the inner cable was frayed and catching in the outer. Duncan

Sim
If its a K series, then it could well be the IACV sticking
Big Bad Baz
Quoting Sim: If its a K series, then it could well be the IACV sticking I Googled IACV and found many instances where people were suffering the same symptoms as me - thing is, I looked today and couldn't find anything that looked like the pictures of an IACV I've seen on the internet! Where exactly should I be looking (on a 1.8 K Series)?

Big Bad Baz
Quoting Mackei23b: Hi there Have a look here, courtesy of Angus and Tessa... http://www.mycaterham.com/66828/66590.html?*session*id*key*=*session*id*val* Cheers Ian Thanks. That cropped up in my Google search, but the inlet manifold shown there looks nothing like mine and there's definitely no IACV like that!
