opplock
My 2002 K series has developed a (to me) bizarre problem. It starts immediately but dies within a few seconds. There is a strong smell of petrol immediately after it shuts down. The fuel pump appears to be working and I have tried disconnecting the IACV to no avail. Has anyone experienced similar problems? This is the 1st problem I have had with the car in 18 months of ownership but after 20 years of Xflow ownership the electronics etc are a complete mystery to me. The car has the Supersport ECU. Can this be tested using standard diagnostic tools?

siva
Can you keep it alive by revving it, and is it intermittent?

Wrightpayne
I've had an ignition switch fail which caused similar symptoms. Had to 'hot wire' it to get it running. Got a new switch from rimmer bros which with a bit of fettling fitted - part no will be in the archives. found my post here Ian Edited by - Wrightpayne on 7 Aug 2013 23:20:
Stationary M25 Traveller
What is the immobiliser LED light doing ?
opplock
With key in position 1 Immobiliser light is flashing. In position 2 the red light is continuously on. I've just spotted in the owners handbook where it says that the system cannot be disarmed if the handset battery fails. I'll try a new battery. Thanks for the advice. Stationary M25 Traveller
You have to disarm it (no LED) before turning ignition on. Once you change the fob battery you have to press unlock several times before it disarms ... the first time.
opplock
Changed the fob battery and after stabbing at the unlock button 4 times we're back in business. Thanks for the advice chaps. I've never had a car with an immobiliser previously so hadn't considered that as a possible cause.
