Steve B
How important, in terms of re-sale value, do you think a FSH eveidenced by owners handbook is. I tend to be quite dismissive as given the nature of the car most of them will have been serviced/maintained by the owner. Any thoughts
charlie_pank
Depends on the car - if the owner built it himself surely it seems a bit academic to worry about whether or not he changed the oil regularly enough?
Steve B
That's pretty much the way I was thinking
Davidmatthews
While we are on this subject what about values/after sales of getting the car serviced at main dealers Caterham or at a lotus specialist garage ? As cc midland in a fair drive for me and I have a lotus garage called Paul Marty sports cars near me who restore cars and maintain all sorts or lotus cars
John Vine
Quoting Steve B: FSHInteresting question. I built both my 7s from a kit, but although I do a lot of regular spannerwork myself, I also take (took) them to a Caterham-approved agent for an annual service. This is more to obtain a qualified second opinion on condition, wear etc for peace of mind, rather than to enhance value. JV
Johnty Lyons
Hard to tell Steve when I put my 1900k on the market I got asked if I had a full service history and who I took the car to in order to have work done. I as a result ignored prospective purchasers as more trouble than they would be worth. In my case I felt anyone buying a balls out 1900 k who asked those questions had no idea what they where getting into.
