S3 Fog light switch question + MOT

Used the 7 in the fog today. Rear fog light works OK, but switch does not light up whether it is on or off. I can't remember if that is normal or correct.

 

Can anyone advise please?

 

If the switch light has failed, is that an MOT failure too?

Thanks for the link - I should have searched

 

My switch is one of those with a small window in the top which is visible when the switch is on. This has always been accepted by the MoT testers in the past.

 

The problem now seems to be that the switch does not light up at all. As far as i can see there is no way to check the internal bilb, if indeed there is one, so maybe a new switch is called for.

TF - I'm pretty sure you can change the internal bulb.

 

Just dug out my mini manual - insert small screwdriver under the notch on both sides of the switch rocker. Depress the notch slightly and lever off the rocker. Unscrew and renew the bulb.

 

Bulb is 0.75w ref 284

Just found an error in my haynes manual for the mini - instruction says unscrew bulb but type listed is a capless type.

 

Pop the cover and take a look.

The bulb does have a thread.

It V. small and I used a pair of point nosed pliers to grip / turn.

I asked my MOT tester last week about this new 'rule' and they said they hadn't been informed of it yet - they did show me a VOSA list of new stuff that came in this year, and is due on 1st April (I think was the date) but it wan't on there either.
