BBL
My Seven has been without any badges up 'til now, but I have now decided to affix a nose badge. Looking for the approximate location to locate it, please. Obviously centered from L/R, but how far back from the front of the nosecone, or similar? Thanks in advance
Bob Simon
Sean, Mine measures 14.625" from the leading edge of the bonnet to the badge centre. I recall there was a tiny dimple in the gelcoat right at that location. At least in a 1994 vintage nosecone. -Bob Edited by - Bob Simon on 26 Feb 2012 02:21:
BBL
Thanks, Bob. I just got a reply from Doug L. in Los Angeles, and his nosecone badge measures 8" even from the leading edge of the nosecone. I suspected this would vary a bit from car to car, but that is quite a difference! I suppose anywhere from 8 to 15 inches (20-38 cm ) should be within "factory specs" then. Bob Simon
8" from the front of the nose cone back is correct. I was measuring from the front edge of the bonnet forward, 14 5/8". It just seemed to be a more precise place to measure from...
BBL
Oh, right; from the leading edge of the bonnet. I see now. Somehow I mis-read that the first time. Thanks again, Bob.
tbird
BBL Hi, Is your beast a CSR, I have Just measured my badge and the Top edge of the badge is 17 1/16" from leading edge of bonnet, which puts the Centre of the Badge at approx 8.5" from lead edge of the nosecone Tim
BBL
Oh right, I should have mentioned it is an S3. Although it does have a CSR engine!
tbird
ah ok then please disregard my measurements I guess the SV/CSR nosecone is slightly longer so the 8.5" from the leading edge is the same for all so I guess thats the guide to use, should have probably looked at your pics first 😬 cheers Tim Edited by - tbird on 26 Feb 2012 17:05:
BBL
Anyone searching for this information after today will now find the measurement for S3 and SV/CSR in one thread, so thanks, Tim.
BBL
Thanks for the measurement, Bob. I put the badge on the car, and finally got around to getting a few photos of it today. I like it. http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/CIMG0836.jpghttp://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/CIMG0835.jpghttp://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/CIMG0834.jpg
Bob Simon
Sean, Looks good! The Ebay car park scene looks rather ominous. Not a prophecy of things to come I hope.
BBL
Nah, that was going to be a joke about "I put my car on eBay..." but I thought better of it. You were right about it being easier and more accurate to measure from the leading edge of the bonnet. Thanks again.
sicsr
Sean, car looks good but tell me where did you get the Cossie nose badge? I can't see them on the CC instore shop?
BBL
It is an older badge that a Seven owner here in the U.S.A. had advertised for sale, along with a lot of other parts.
