jackb_ms
Hi I need to rethink part ofthe plumbing of my car, from the water pump to radiator and I was thinking to use some 32mm OD (30mm ID) aluminium tube ID for the straight part and silicone tubing for the 90 degrees bend. Would it be agood or bad idea? Cheers Jack Emily, The Very Yellow
DJ.
When I built a Westfield in 1990, I used aluminium tube for the main radiator hose, and didn't have any problems for the 5 years I owned it. The antifreeze should protect it like the aluminium engine parts.

Rattie
As much as I love the word FLANGE, don't you mean beaded? Flangeing would involve adding a FLANGE on each end, so that you could attach it to another FLANGE! Enough, I'm done now. Martyn R300GRR
jackb_ms
I think beading will be better than a flange Emily, The Very Yellow

EFA
I's say it unimportant unless you have a K-Series, in which case the increased pressure in the cooling system from a HGF could blow the hoses off and scald you. Probably less important on a Caterham through. where you are not surrounded by coolant plumbing. Full Terms and Conditions of this post can be read here. CageyH
If you go down this route, use decent hose clips (I don't like Mikalor) as there is nothing worse than a moist, dripping flange under the bonnet. Only dead fish go with the flow....! Edited by - CageyH on 28 Oct 2010 16:36:
CageyH
Oh, forgot to say you may have to lube your pipes before insertion in order to form a good leak free seal. I would recommend silicone grease for this. Only dead fish go with the flow....!

CageyH
I can't get such a good seal as I do with JCS Hi-Grip clips. They always seem to leak Only dead fish go with the flow....!
