Hanns Per
The point at the Raceco exhaust system is interesting I could go for big valves, ported head and the exhaust system could this alone be a significant step over the Caterham 260 specs? dannylt
For power, yes. In torque below 5k, unlikely. Surely the 260 spec head is already somewhat ported.
Alaskossie
dannylt, what transmission did you use to harness that 308 hp and 225 lb.ft of torque from the 2445cc Duratec? I take it that you are not using that engine now?? --if that's correct, why not? Alaskossie
dannylt
Gearbox was/is a straight cut T9 dog box. Overboring to 89mm is much cheaper, simpler and more reliable than "turning the Duratec into a big K-Series with incorrectly supported liners" as Ammo put it 😬. The heads can breathe so well the power is still climbing at a sensible rev limit, so we decided to de-stroke it to get more rpm instead. The first engine was a development experiment, and I think Ammo has sold quite a few of the 2.2 kits now. I think it's a perfect compromise if you still want 200lbft, but no doubt the 2.0 way is cheaper if you just want power! There was a 300+ bhp 2.3 engine too that we dyno tested for interest while waiting for the 2.2 steel crank. That was enough playing for me; I'm sticking to what I have now! danny
