jradley
Hi, I want to replace the foam strip on the scuttle that the bonnet sits on, as the current one is very compressed and a bit tatty in palces. It is still well bonded to the scuttle though - any ideas how to get it off ? Cheers, John
jonboylaw
It is stuck with tape and very sticky tape at that.... If you can get to one edge then pull, if just the foam comes off then use meths or similar solvent to get the tape and sticky off. I have some "label remover" that I got from RS and that seems to work ok. Kevsta
I used a heat gun on a low heat. Worked a treat. Then some meths to get any left over residue. The heat gun gets the foam off down to the sticky bits. Don't go too hot though!
jradley
Numpty question, but where do you buy meths from ? Would white spirit work or is that likely to damage the paint ? Cheers, John
Gnasher2
*thumbup*Hot air gun Then use Autoglym Intensive Tar remover. Top job.
Billyboy
There is an ORANGE smelling liquid sticker removal spray you can get - from CPC - remove the spongy bit and then spray it on the paper/laminate backing and it just lifts - did it on my R300 - Check first though on a small spot to make sure your paint is not effected - Mine was fine
andymal
petrol works fine removing the sticky remains. I replaced mine only one hour ago.
Kevsta
Get meths from anywhere really, B&Q (etc.), Asda, halfords. Less harsh than white spirit. And similar to autoglym intensive tar remover (and less expensive) - I do have the tar remover though....great stuff!
