fred_gustafsson
I can't seem to fing the water rail nor the "large L shaped hose" that it should connect to. Is it not used anymore or am I really missing something here? Also, what pupose does the water rail serve? Fred
akb
Hi I am just finishing up an R400 with duratech and think yours is similar. The water rail was fitted to the engine on mine. With a pair (one large and one small) outlets above the flywheel and a pair next to the water pump. The L shaped hose is a silicone hose in the box with all the rest. I received two. Hope that helps Andrew
John Vine
Fred, The water rail looks like this. It connects the coolant outlet at the rear of the cylinder head to the radiator. My rail was already attached to the engine on delivery. The L-shaped hose looks like this. If you're missing any items, give Sean at the factory a call. andrew_r
On my kit they have deleted the water rail and replaced it with a very long shaped rubber hose. I think they had issues with the aluminium pipe fracturing and leaking coolant. Regards Andrew
MartinH
Hi there, I am building an R300 at the moment and was also mystified about the water rail and l shaped hose mentioned in the build manual. I spoke to the factory and indeed they have replaced this arrangement with a long hose with a couple of bends in it. Cheers, Martin Duratec R300 SV build in progress
John Vine
Ah, that explains a lot! The mounting brackets on my water rail (ali tube) both fractured quite early on, so I can see why CC have changed the design. So, all that seems to be needed now is an update to the Assembly Guide! CJS
The aluminium pipe also doesn't fit beneath throttle bodies (when you get round to upgrading). Or at least under my Titan's anyway... Chris
paul abrahams
After 2 sets of brackets fracturing on my duratec installation, caterham have removed and replaced with the rubber hose arrangement which is their now standard warranty replacement item. Much better solution
Rattie
Before you ask, it goes between the block and both of the vertical hoses. One is the dipstick hose, the other is an L-shaped hose from the plenum to a black plastic manifold on the block. If you route the top hose outside of either of those, nothing fits. Gasmaninaseven
The breather hose to the underside of the plenum is best re-routed to a catch tank or capped off and the plenum inlet capped off. There is info as to why on previous theads, my car had the same issue. Have a look here Neil Build pictures here Guantanamo Bay Orange SUPERLIGHT R400......
