Tony Whitley
...and it's hurting my hands! I fitted a Caterham gearknob to my '97 car and now I bash my knuckles when changing gear. It looks like I need to thread the gearstick further, anyone else done that or am I missing something? Of course, I don't have a die big enough
F355GTS
Tony I cut 1/2 off the top of my shaft to allow my knob to go further down, would the same be enough for you? alt I think you can drill and tap your knob Mark

andy_h
Tony, When I changed my knob for a resin one my shaft was too long also. I found my shaft had an extension piece about 2inch long which uncrewed. Took this off and all's fine and I don't get a sore hand while holding my knob 😳 White road legal 2.0 HPC VX race car - Now all shiney and new 😬
Tony Whitley
No extensions on my shaft. I measured it and it's 70mm from the base if you take the bend into account Only the last 18mm is threaded and there's lots of headroom inside the knob if it were threaded further.
