Re-mapping a MBE 967 for a different engine

Is it possible to remap a Caterham supplied MBE 967 from an R300 (K Series) to a map suitable for a Vauxhall 2.0XE engine 🤔

Will a Caterham supplied ECU be 'locked' to prevent re-mapping.

Thanks

The MBE ECU's have several areas of electronically eraseable storage.

One such are contains the map for your engine. You can erase this and load a new map even if your ECU is locked. If it is locked you simply cannot edit the map which is curently residing on the ECU.

The next area contains the cmos microcode which gives the ECU its intelligence, rather like the ROM code on a mobile phone. This code also contains some configuration parameters which cannot be accessed via Easymap. One of these is the trigger wheel configuration.

You need to change the configuration to the 60-2 trigger, or fit an external pickup and wheel to your engine.

If you speak to Steven Greenald, as mentioned by Roger, he has the software tools to reflash the ECU in its entirety. This will download the selected cmos microcode for your desired configuration.

Takes him a couple of minutes so should not be expensive.

As emailed yesterday, this is the bespoke K-series software. The only pattern supported is the 36-4. Might be possible to have the ECU re-flashed, but not a DIY job.

Steve Greenald has checked this out for me and apparently the MBE for the R300 cannot be converted to the vauxhall. Something to do with the firmware only recognising the K series trigger wheel.
