Leadership Team RogNeedham Posted May 24, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted May 24, 2007 The original 16 yr old alternator on my car is looking a bit sick. Is there a specific car it is off eg any 1980 Escort/Fiesta? Rog
John Ryan
In the abscence of a more expert opinion, I'd say go for any Ford that used that engine, for example a pre-facelift MK3 Cortina. The best thing to do is whip the alternator out any take it with you to a motor factors or a big Halfords (if you have one close) and match it to one on the shelf. F355GTS
Rog the one on my BDR is a Lucas LRA100 from memory but as suggested best to take it down to match it Mark
Drumster
I'd even suggest trying to find an autoelectrician to repair it, my 14 year Valeo died a death last year and it was completely overhauled for the for £30. Good as new now. Chris Alston C7CAT 1800 Supersprint Drive it like you stole it! but don't tell my pupils that 😳
RobW
Any motor factors should be able to do you a new one for around £
Drumster
That sounds cheap for a new one especially as CC charge £115 . Is CC's mark up really that much 🤔 Chris Alston C7CAT 1800 Supersprint Drive it like you stole it! but don't tell my pupils that 😳

Casbar
Get one from a Motor Factors, around £30. Then you get a years guarentee, so you can have a new one after 11 months
