Hi,
Newbie waiting for delivery of (now delayed due to parts shortage) Factory Built car. One of the last Sigmas, a Super Seven 1600.
My question is: the car will have a heater, but what happens to water that enters the top louvres on the bonnet and drops down into the heater unit ?
Is there a drain pipe at the bottom of the unit, something like that ?
Welcome.
Would you like any technical documentation to read while you're waiting... Assembly Guide, Owner's Handbook?

Some will drip on your leg .... From various points on the scuttle
So does it just collect at the bottom of the heater unit?
That doesn't sound ideal. At some point it must come out of the vents inside the cabin..

I have the pdfs from the aftersales page of the CC site, just perusing the vast quantity of tech documents available to members here!

I think that the Caterham support pages now only link to the pictorial style Assembly Guide. There's a lot more in the old text-heavy version...

Sure there is some sort of drain to engine bay.
I have a heater and have driven the car in heavy rain with the roof and heater on. On these occasions, I've never experienced an issue with water coming in through the vents to my knowledge, nor any effect of water on the heater following the trips.
The top of my heater unit has a seal running around which looks like it will be flush with the underside of the bonnet and thus limit any water ingress.
Assume the rain will find a way to drip onto you...it's a rite of passage..
The rain related experience to look forward to is being in a traffic jam in the pouring rain with no roof next to a car full of children. While you get soaked it is good to be able to clearly see that someone is enjoying themselves at your misfortune
Tip: On these occasions putting the tonneau over your legs keeps can keep you almost dry in the worst of conditions providing you also have a goretex jacket on.

I've gone for the half hood, although I've noticed CC have removed that option from their latest new car specs.
There's no mention of it in either the 'S' range or 'R' range price lists, as far as I can see.
