  2. thanks my mistake, i have the bigger one. is the caterham air filter good enough?
  3. hi all i'm going to drop my 1.9 scholar/DVA engine in my car, and i would like to know if the std BS airbox (caterham air filter) will be good for it. i bought the airbox last year, but i don't know if it's the later type or not. engine specs are : 1.9 bore 1444 cams dva VHPD head big(gest?) valves dth jenveys r500 injectors powerspeed exhaust (decat) cheers for now antonio Edited by - tonino on 1 Oct 2012 19:47:16
  4. hi there are ARP bolts a must have on a 1.9 sholar DVA engine? engine won't rev a lot (8000-8250 rpm) and has a std VHPD crankshaft. lightened flywheel by the way... cheers
  5. will do so, thanks for the advice! antonio
  6. bonjour a tous how tight should be a pace belt on a dry sump instalation? i fitted a 1 mm shim between block and pump bracket to give more tension but it looks to be a little bit too tight (20° flex on belt if you know what i mean) without shim, belt is a little bit too loose. (45°flex) and i am able to take the belt off without dismantling pump. what do you reckon guys? cheers antonio

  8. @clousta : will double check, but pretty sure spa sensors are accurate! @sm25t : googd idea, but it would be a very tight fit on my instalation. is the air flow the main thing that prevents oil temp to rise? Edited by - tonino on 23 Aug 2012 18:31:08
  9. bonjour, engine is a s3 with k series engine fitted with pace dry sump and brise tank located at front of the car. i have a SPA gauge with sensor in tank and oil temp never goes above 65° (when blatting at speed) and never above 55 on m way or normal drive. no oil cooler fitted of course, but i have a laminova (smaller one because of PRRT plumbing) anyone here fitted insulation or wrapping to the brise tank to help the temp to reach 80-85°? merci
  10. i have B4 in a S3 and the are perfect. lowered floor on driver side, both fitted on tillett runners. IMHO, won't suit a + 185 cm driver. cheers antonio
  11. just to hijack the thread i did the relay mod a few days ago, fitted a new std starter, but i still have the click from time to time (cold or hot, doesn't really matter) i have double checked battery, ground, loom, alternator but can't see why it is not working fine. starter goes well everytime i put a direct feed on it. any idea??
  12. decided to drill my floor to fit my fire extinguisher. after the fist drill, i noticed a strange air leak sound. then i remebered my wheel were stocked under the car.... cr 500 were of course brand new...

  16. hi looking for one old style square/flat header tank. BM if you have one for me please merci
  17. merci are ITG backplate bigger than BS backplate? to re-use my BS airbox, i have to relocate my header tank and find the old square version... maybe that's the way to go.BM me if you have one available. mankee, can you send me a picture of you instalation please? antonio222@voila.fr merci
  18. @ myles: exactly, the late BS airbox seems to be bigger than yours and nealy fouls the bonnet. trumpets will be 4 cm away from airbox, so i guess it would be ok but i really wonder if engine will breath enought (amazing to see how much differences you geet when playing with trumpets) @shaun: on RR you can't get the ramair effect you have when driving.emerald staff did but a big fan in front of radiator but very few air went on air box + it was pretty hot . D walker told me the BS would be alittle bit restrictrive with car being static, hence why we took it off. why is it difficult to use foam filters on jenveys? cheers
  19. used to have a LIFE battery but i let it discharged by mistake, as the result it is now dead. i go for a cheap sealed battery that works ok. difference in wheight is "only" 3 kg between LIFE and sealed (20amp both) but LIFE is x 4. edit to say 20 amps arre fine as long as you engine starts fine everytime...you get get more than 5/6 chances to start it up (1800 kseries) Edited by - tonino on 9 May 2012 22:11:59
  20. as above see picture if that help.not that is the shorter version fitted [img" alt="http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/2348/img1219gs.jpg" /> http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/38/img1219gs.jpg/ Uploaded with ImageShack.us]here Edited by - tonino on 9 May 2012 21:54:36
  21. hello guys to get the best out of my engine, i went for 110 mm trumpets. i wonder if the BS airbox will still be efficient with longer trumpets. airbox depth is arond 150mm so it will fit no probleme. during mapping, we haven't used bs airbox (no airfilter and nosecone/bonnet off). should i expect changes /power loss if i put the BS airbox on? do itg or pipercross ai filters are proven to give more airflow? car should not be used anymore on track so noise level is not a -big- issue thanks for your advises antonio
  22. jason, thanks for your help yes, when brown/yellow wire hearted, the led glows. i will do what you sugest and find the white wire on the grey connector to connect it on IG port, and brown/yellow to L port. my std alternator had only one wire (brown yellow) and everything was fine.something i can't understand. cheers
  23. DJ : no, alternator is not earthed (should it be?) mic: the feed from starter has been used for testing only. once solution find, will use a switched live. JF: the brown/yellow wire i have is connected to the tacho and has 11.4 V, so i guess it is my IG wire. if i follow you, i should find the wire that is connected to the other side of lamp and connect it to L port?
  24. can you send me a picture of con rods please? antonio222@voila.fr cheers
