I am surprised you have the nerve to mention that family in this group .

  2. I spoke to Geartorque yesterday - his quote over the phone to rebuild my ZF LSD with new bearings etc was a rather astonishing £680+vat.  I explained I wanted a check over & refresh, new bearing etc, and he suggesting Id be wasting my money if its not excessively noisy.

I also spoke to Alan Voights in Wallasey, Merseyside and they quoted £355+vat for the same with a week turnaround.  That would be a clean, check, bearings and reassemble like for like, keeping the internals and CWP the same.

  3. That looks perfectly normal to me, and shows the mag plug is doing what it should be doing.  You don't appear to have any larger lumps of bearing materials or anything else.  Its looks like simply fine metal particles in oil.  Wipe it clean and monitor it would be my suggestion.

  4. Oh no! Did they suggest an alternative or how to proceed? I do have a spare purple one, but its staying in my spares box.  Please could you PM me your contact at Titan as I should get the spare rebuild so I can rotate them over winter.

  5. Cant you just give the ends a quick rub down with very fine wet & dry paper before crimping?  Just a twist in a piece of pinched paper should clear any oxidation shouldn't it? Or cut the small amount of old exposed wire and restrip a fresh bit?   There is usually some surplus in most of the wiring runs in my experience.

  6. Your engine project is something I did many moon ago - a 1.4-1.8k conversion.  DVA made me up a new bottom end, then I transferred everything across, inc the Supersport head, to the new short motor, running it on MEMS with new injectors for the first year.  Then I fitted a set of the KV6/ SLR throttle bodies and an Emerald with a mapping session, all with the 5 speed box.  Have you a set of Vernier pulleys on the cams?  Incorrectly timed cams would make it feel flat, and can make a noticeable difference when dialled in properly.  The 1.8k with 5 speed is a good set up on the road IMO - the torque of the bigger engine suits the gearbox much better than the 1.4 did.

  7. Yep, I concur.   You can't swop and change bits around unless you want to start cutting and welding, the systems are designed a whole.  I looked at fitting a larger SLR silencer to this system and the inlet was too short.  If you fit the 4-2-1 collector to your manifolds it will be too long and you'd need a bespoke silencer.  It not a bad system, much better than than the standard exhaust, so your not in bad position for engine mods.

  8. Bargepole.  As in wouldn't touch them with one until some proof of expertise and experience.  Plenty of good specialists already in the area who are a known quantity - Track v Road, Clitheroe, Dave Gemzoe, Mikeanics, Oakmere - all not too far away.
