Thanks all! I didn't have to go further than base one. Multi meter revealed that the battery was only delivering 10.7 amps, so it was never going to start. I had assumed that it was fine as it had been run through a full recon cycle on my CTEK conditioner. and was showing green lights. Just goes to show. I think I had left the battery discharged for too long. The months slip by so quickly!
Regards!
Amps or volts ?

It's a heavy contact somewhere, as the NVH in this car is really harsh !
-
I suspect you'll find it didn't get changed when they started using the Mazda gearbox. This is Caterham.
-
I think it proved very beneficial, but leave it to the OP to comment.

Loosen the gearbox mount and see if you can push the gearbox away from that contact

Check the bottom fuse in fuse rail. Originally supplied as 20A, it needs changing to 30A as per CC workshop notice.

Why not. It may have been sitting on a shelf for months.

But you don't need one to change the gaiters ...

Newer track rods don't have flats on them, I recently replaced mine to take out play in the rack, sourced from Caterham..
They are very tiny flats, not easy to find. Did you have your glasses on 😉

You can use mole grips on a part that is hidden under the gaiter while you crack the lock nut.

Tackling this job myself this weekend. Is there any requirement to repack any grease within the gaiter when replacing it?
No. You can grease the teeth of the rack if you wind it from lock to lock

Push the side skin in.
And put some masking tape on the paint to reduce damage from tools

You don't want grease on that spherical joint, as it will attract grit. A spot of light oil maybe.

You don't need to split the ball joint ! Crack the lock nut and unscrew the tie rod from the track rod end.

Breathaylsers were never needed for France, despite the posters from the AA and Halfords who probably bought thousands of them.

Usually a sign of battery on the way out.
