  1. I have a 2008 SV with standard leather seats. Are these any good? And are the Tillets you have specific to an S3? Are they B1 or B2 model? If ok and you are interested, first dibs please Steve
  2. Interesting responses. Jez, my car was delivered in kit form on Nov 30th 2008 so could well be part of this bad batch. Do you know what the problem was with them? I don't believe its a split caliper so not sure that will be the cause. I had not thought of the piston seal (doh). Could be that. Either way I am talking a new caliper. At this point I refuse to be "very afraid"
  3. I replaced the rear wing and have subsequently lost my brakes ( I am only presuming the two are related) as I have drove to FoS from Herts between the two events! Anyway clear leak. I have checked the bleed screw and brake pipe connection - all ok. Used my hydraulic brake bleeder kit and could see the leak at the top(!) of the calliper, nowhere near the bleed screw or the brake pipe. So whats the problem and how do I sort it? Any ideas from you engineers out there? Steve
  4. Hi Robs, That was me. Driving to/from meeting nr Peterborough. Best way yo get to a mtg by the back roads from st Albans rather than up the motorway. Hope I was driving sensibly at that point Steve

  7. got any pics? Guaranteed banal profundities
  8. Glad you got it sorted Howard. I built my SV150 in St Albans a couple of years ago and noticed your up the road - in fact I delivered a copy of Low Flying to Wheathamstead last week - was delivered to mine by mistake . may well have been your address! Steve Guaranteed banal profundities
  9. Steve When you say the boss do you mean the bit that fits into the chassis above the rear suspension? Not sure I can help in any way but just curious and the answer may help someone else give more advice. Thats exactly what I mean. Jason, I presume you mean you got that extra half inch on the roll bar. I think I'll go down the same route you did. Thanks Steve Guaranteed banal profundities
  10. I've just bought an FIA roll bar to replace standard roll bar on SV (2009). Just tried to fit the new roll bar only to find that the boss is one 1 & 1/2 inch deep and the slot on the car is only 1 inch. So the base plate clears the car by about 1/2 inch. This roll bar came off a CSR but Caterham had already confirmed that it would still fit an SV. Pretty sure I cannot saw a 1/2 inch off the boss as it has a sealed end. Any ideas? 11. Any kind person able to pick up an aeroscreen and assorted bits from Tim Renshaw in Manchester and get them to St Albans, please let me know. Many thanks Steve J Guaranteed banal profundities
  12. Any kind folk able to pick up an FIA Rollbar from "Petrolhead" in Newcastle and bring down South? I'm not too fussed where down South as it's easy to get back to St Albans from wherever. Please let me know if you are able to help. Steve Guaranteed banal profundities
  13. Petrolhead, First dibs confirmed. You have mail Guaranteed banal profundities
  14. So, does the Caterham reply nullify the previous entry about it not fitting the SV? If it's ok the first dibs please. Just need to work out how to ge it down South steve
  15. Is this a tricky one to fit? - where the rear spring damper unit has to be removed to gain access to the lower mounting points? Could be interested. Steve Guaranteed banal profundities

  17. Turns out to be a split VC joint. Thanks folks for your help. Steve Guaranteed banal profundities
  18. Just been through all this myself. Garage width at narrowest is 2300mm. Any trailer large enough to fit my SV was also 2300 wide. I used one with minimal width of 1cm on either side of the tyre last year. It was really difficult to use easily - I required visual help and much care. So I have just purchased a Brian James TT600. The bed is over the wheels so you get extra width for the car and yet less overall trailer width so it fits in the garage fine. The overall width is 1960 with the SV width being 1685 - plenty of room. thoroughly recommend this trailer. make sure you get the length that will fit in the garage, and be careful about selection of a wheel clamp (10' wheels with minimal clearance above to the base of the bed. Not sure you will find it easy to pick one of these up second hand, and they are more expensive than a Minno. Steve Steve Guaranteed banal profundities
  19. After a great blat with the Herts crew made nerve wracking only by the insistent noise from behind, I ran the car up the trailer ramps when I got home to see if I could work out what the rat-tat-tat sound was. Looks like it was indeed the brake cable hitting the driveshaft where it inserts into the diff. I'll find out on the next run. But of more concern is the fact that it had slipped because on that drivers side only there was loads of grease/oil splattered on the walls and frame. . Noticeably only on one side which suggests to me that the diff is leaking from that driveshaft access point. I'd be interested to know what people think this is most likely to be..... 22. Hi John, I agree, it shouldn't leak at all. The banjo at master cylinder end is dry. At the bellhouse connection it has obviously leaked. I did build the car from kit last winter and remember that I had some real problems connecting the hydraulic cable - A. it was different from described in the manual, and B. didn't want to go in. I think I got it in in the end but was not happy. I think it's time for another look. Steve Guaranteed banal profundities
  23. Took a look at the other end of the cable. It's clear there is a leak from at the point where it enters the bell housing. So I pumped in some more fluid and all appears to be fine again. Question now is, for how long? Thanks for all your help Guaranteed banal profundities
  24. Thanks for the advice. It's hydraulic (I well remember the mess pouring in the brake fluid and pumping till the air bubbles were all gone). I've checked the connections and there's no loose bolts at the peddle end so obviously no slippage has occurred. I've tried loosening the bolt and adjusting it but can't seem to shift it. So I'm a bit stuck as to how to proceed. Guaranteed banal profundities
