  1. The bed width is 196cm - perfect for your car! https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/big-stuff/trailers/car-transporters/brian-james-a-max-car-trailer/7749888
  2. No, not a covered one just yet! I'm parting company with the A-max because it only just squeezes into my unusually narrow garage with about an inch to spare either side. I'm quite good at reversing, but not good enough to get the trailer in instantly. And when I get home after a track day, when I'm tired and it's dark, it's nearly impossible. So the replacement trailer will be taller - with its bed on top of the wheels - and narrower.
  3. About 5 years old, fully serviced by Trident Trailers (BJ agents) in April 2017, five new tyres. A really excellent trailer - strong and stable! £1950. PM me for more info and photos.
  4. Hi Ken - that was me on a little road test in readiness for my trip to Spa with Seth next week. Can't wait! Though I think of my nose as red rather than orange... Stephen

Throttle cable please - PM sent - thanks
  6. Peter - I was gutted that you didn't come! I'd really love to see your amazing car on track... I too was tempted to stay at home - but glad in the end I didn't. The track was actually dry in parts for quite a lot of the morning and almost fast and grippy at times - seriously enjoyable with relaxed open pitlane running and very few cars on track. But with more rain forecast, I went home at lunchtime and made it back to Kent at a civilised hour in readiness for work the next day. Yesterday I found my legs and arms were aching more than usual after a track day, so I must have had some fun. So, in all, half a great day.....though after the (also very enjoyable) club day at Cadwell, where track time was seriously limited by the decision to stick with sessions for most of the day, the recent £-spent per track-mile-completed ratio hasn't been too good for me! Happily, though, I have a brilliant-value open pitlane day at Spa with Lotus- on-Track coming up in a couple of weeks, for which I am fully braced for rain.... I was last there with my first Caterham eleven years ago, and it rained continuously from just after the drivers' briefing in the morning until just after the chequered flag in the late afternoon, with (sod's law) dry weather either side of that. So my expectations are zero.. Anyway, Peter, do please try to come to the Brands Hatch club day on 21st August, if you're OK with their slightly tricky noise limits.....? Stephen
  7. Yes, they're not directional, but simply marked to show which side should be used on the outside. That means they look a-symmetrical, tread-wise, but don't worry - they work absolutely fine! The advantage is that you can easily swap wheels from one side to the other to get even wear...
  8. What a fantastic open pit lane day at Oulton Park today (evidently the only dry(ish) place in the UK). 6 Caterhams, 5 of which organized by Mankee, amongst a range of other cars including Porsche GT3s practising for the racing this weekend. Such a great event - one of the best. Thank you everyone
  9. Not quite sure I follow your drift here, but good luck anyway with the sale - and apologies for my interfering comments! You're right, it's not my business, and I know how annoying it can be to get stupid low offers for decent goods...
  10. Yes I can confirm that without the foam I got serious oil starvation on left hand corners on track, and once I'd put it back in the problem went away completely. I had an Apollo in both instances, of course. The science may be difficult to explain, but the impact of the change was unequivocal, as confirmed by the (mechanical!) oil gauge...
  11. Foam ... Yes .... every time you go on track. It really does reduce oil surge. Just change it annually and you'll be fine. I had big problems with surge on track with my VHPD when I removed the foam, following conventional advice. As soon as I put it back In, problem solved immediately....
  12. Ha - you have a good point there, but sometimes sales work on psychology, not logic! So if you see a set of admittedly slightly tatty wheels for sale by a racer, you might think - hmm, why has he just fitted brand new tyres before advertising them? You might guess he probably got the tyres at a good discount, and so was trying to make a quick profit and move on some unwanted wheels in the process. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, in my view. But BC buyers seem to really like complete transparency, plus helpful and flexible discussions about price, and get put off easily. But I'm sure you'll sell them soon - I was looking out for something similar recently, and I thought your price seemed OK...
  13. My experience of both buying and selling wheels and tyres on BC is that they sell very quickly when fairly priced, and slowly or not at all when overpriced. Simple, innit..
  14. Being a bit of a tyre tart, I recently bought a set of Nankang AR1 tyres for road use, mainly because I really liked the look of their unusual minimalist tread pattern, and I was getting bored with my excellent R888Rs. AR1s are about £100 a set cheaper than ZZRs, and about £50 less than most Toyo prices. They are quite heavy, though the tyre walls don't seem as stiff as the 888s. Yesterday at Snetterton I couldn't resist trying them out on track, comparing them directly with a set of soft compound ZZRs. No timing allowed, of course, but they felt almost as quick as the ZZRs and slightly more progressive, with none of the tyre squeal I found with R888Rs. I was very impressed - their feel reminds me of the old-style 888s, which I much preferred on track to the new-style.. The only downside is that in road use they are noticeably noisier than either the Avons or the Toyos. But they are relatively inexpensive, look great, and handle beautifully. So definitely recommended Stephen PS thumbs up also to Javelin, for as usual organising a brilliant, disciplined track day, with seven hours of open pitlane track time, all for £149. A sell-out, of course, but it never felt crowded and there was no queuing. A perfect day
  15. Yes fine - but I've had another enquiry already so please can you call me asap to confirm payment details? I'm near Ashford. regards Stephen
  16. Set of lightly used R888R tyres, 2 x front (185x60x13) and 2 x rear (205x60x13). These are my current 'spare' (road use only) set, bought 18 months ago, stored in the warm in winter, and have done no more than 1800 careful miles with more than 3-4 mm tread comfortably remaining throughout. If you've never tried 888s, they are brilliant tyres for fast road use: amazingly grippy in the dry and very decent in the wet. (Though it's said they don't like standing water, I did a seriously wet track day at Spa some years ago with the old-style 888s and they were surprisingly good.) They have a slightly taller profile than Avon ZZR/ZZS/CR500s so give a better ride, and unlike some Yokos there's no tramlining.. If you blatmail me a text number or email address I'll send you some photos. £175 for the set; buyer collects or I can deliver locally in Kent Stephen
  17. Gary, I have a pipe and slippers for sale, if interested?
  18. The first time it happened to me it started with an occasional drip and very slowly and steadily got worse over the course of several months (though ISTR on the next car it came in a single deluge). Hopefully yours has just had a little weep and has now pulled itself together..
  19. Sounds like it may be a leaking heater if, as you say, the wetness on the passenger side is 'oily'. See if it tastes like antifreeze (i.e. horrible) - if so it will be the heater I'm afraid. It happened to me on both of my previous K series cars.....
  20. I should have said: Blatmail your email address if you want pics and more details,..
  21. Wheels are in very good condition. Tyres have about 3mm rear and 2mm front tread remaining. £495 Blatmail me for pics.
  22. Black centres with polished rims, all in good condition. The tyres are Avon race wet cross plies and are ideal for track days - I've only used them twice (5mm tread remaining) and the grip is absolutely phenomenal! £395 Blatmail me with your email address for photos etc
