  1. I've got a hand operated vacuum pump kit that I use for brake bleeding - kit cost thick end of £100 but it's very quick easy and efficient for once person... minimal excess fluid use and no mess at all...
  2. Martin - no doubt we should also be fellow spottees then as I live just outside Bletchingley and fly from Redhill! See you anon (Red R300 with white bonnet stripe)
  3. In Halford, Redhill car park today... brave man in matching coloured polo shirt with aeroscreen and no lid... K7 VVV I think...

    NICE TOY!!!

Yes, pls Ric - YHM... Thanks
  5. Would oily and/or Knowley mind posting a pic of their modified baffles? Mine is still in it's bubblewrap and, assuming I've got Bob Hope of getting a refund from Hellier, I would like to modify before I fit at first service. Cheers
  6. I think 'lies' is a bit strong... the reports I read about how good it was before buying one (still in it's bubblewrap - can't figure out whether to fit it, flog it, or chase Hellier for a refund on it!) were based on road driving (round and round a roundabout, if I recall correctly)... perhaps I didn't see the ones referred to, though... As I'm planning o do most of my driving on the road (although I like to test the limits), I am still unclear whether I am better with the baffle than the foam? Hersh
  7. Not sure if this helps, but I had the OE discs on my bike (Fireblade - so plenty of hard braking... bit not much weight so prob balances out?) for 3 years. Then one got twisted and I replaced them with cast iron ones. About same time I started using higher performance sintered pads... have been through a pair a year ever since as they wear super-thin. And these are £200 a pair!
  8. I'm well aware that this is a common problem... little pools of gearbox oil left on nice clean garage floor... Before I bother getting into a long and painful debate with CC over this (it's a home-built R300), is there actually a cure? Or will I just replace endless seals with no hope of ever actually fixing it? And is it a big enough problem to worry about? ie. Should I just get used to wiping floor?! Cheers

    Up high...

An autogiro, over Bletchingley.... never actually seen one flying before!

    fitting diff

That's not the spirit Toni! I'm only a wee bloke and I did it on my own... bottle jack under the diff is better as it allows you to tip it around once you get enough height... As previously mentioned a couple of shorter bolts/drivers to hold it in at the top joint once you get it there... be prepared for sore arms/back in the morning! But at least you defeated the b*****d!!!!! Hersh
  11. It's the side exit standard R series exhaust alright...
  12. Thanks, Guy... Glad to hear that the noise is not the CRB... I'll content myself with TADTS, then... Haven't tightened clocks as yet as they don't seem to be loose - but it's an obvious first try (so why didn't I try before posting?)! As for the speed, I'm not going to incriminate myself... but, trust me... it's nothing to do with forward speed 😳 In fact, it seemed to get worse! Am going to double-check for blowing from manifold etc... Cheers
  13. Hi - am driving a newly built (by me) R300... I've noticed a couple of things getting worse over the last few blats I've been out on: 1. Exhaust smell in car... started thinking it might be coming through heater (ie. from under bonnet) but no... it seems to be drafting back in from outside (driving with winscreen, door, no roof)... enough to give me a stinking headache after 90 minutes today! Any ideas/thoughts on how to eliminate... or so I need to get a mask?! 2. Noise from clutch - LOADS os rumbling from clutch until it's depressed.... guess this is the infamous CRB? How much noise should I expect before I suspect that it's failing? Bit nervous as supposed to be travelling to France in it in two weeks... 3. Carbon dasb buzzing at c. 5500-6000rpm on driver side... it's really high pitched and quite deafening. I suspect it's from the mountings of the speedo/tacho... anyone else had this and ben able to eliminate? Cheers all Hersh
  14. It's a done deal... there's a jolly good real ale festival every year at the Oaks... can't remember when, though! Might make a good Surrey-are meeting point! Cheers!
  15. Sorry, Doug... see you getting airbourne on the Partridge Lane humpback bridge some time :D No.6
