  1. have fitted the boot cover, looks perfect. Then came to trial fit the tonneau and noticed that I had not put the piggyback back fitting on the boot cover just forward of the roll bar that you attach the tonneau too. Question . Is there an easy way of replacing the black button clip thing with a new piggyback arrangement ?? Hope someone can help

    fitting diff

is there an easy way of getting the top bolt/pin in to suspend the diff prior to fitting the bottom bolts,if you are working by yourself. Have tried using a trolley jack but balance seems a bit precarious, also cant get a hoist around the back of the car. Seems like it is a 2 man job. Any info much appreciated

    USEFUL TOOL

Just started my build this weekend.Front suspension all done and well on with steering.First problem, could not get the rubber coated bush for the steering column into the dash very tight fit with the raised bits that lock into the recess. The HITEC bit of equipment I used was a 6 inch end of our kitchen sweeping brush perfect fit when used as a drift, 2 light taps and it slotted in. (you cant get these at Halfords ) My better half wants a new brush now,but its a small price to pay for a Caterham !!!
  6. YES THIS IS TRUE THERE IS A SHORTAGE, I AM IN THE PRINT GAME AND WE USE A LOT OF IPA WHICH IS IN ANTI FREEZE,IT IS A BY PRODUCT OF THE PETRO CHEM INDUSTRY.LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE NOW IT ALL GOES TO CHINA COS THEY PAY TOP DOLLAR,EUROPE NOW GETS THE LEFT OVERS !!!
  7. Tim thanks for your reply ,have already got yours thankyou excellent regards John (aka Toni)
  8. my kit is due mid april, Ihave received the build manual from Caterham, and I have also printed off various BUILD DIARIES and pics for the build. Has anyone got any suggestions for which build diaries to look at? I can then cross reference your suggestions with those I have got ,to see if Iam missing any useful information. thanks for all your help in advance.
  9. Thanks for that Anthony, that is handy to know ,it would save purchasing another one for this area and I supose other interested people in the area could use it for a donation to ntl. where abouts near Ilkley are you ? Regards John (AKA TONI)]
  10. am considering buying a Clarke cfc100 1 tonne folding crane for self build in april/may. As people seem to take engines in and out on a regular basis i was wandering if any memebers in WEST YORKS/ EAST LANCS area would be interested in a part share .This would then do away if the need to hire at xx amount of pounds per day, and would be available for any participating purchasers at any time. I should be able to put it through the books at work and so save the VAT. Other option is does anyone have a crane i could borrow for a price or donation to nuke the luke.
  11. my car ,self build is due mid april.went to caterham midlands over xmas /new year to ask some questions. Mechanic called Paul was building a car there so i watched for a while. He said forget about the manual ,put the gear box in first, then the engine and attach the starter motor at the end. Anyone got any suggesions as to if this would be a good way to proceed for a novice,or would i be best sticking to the manual. thanks in advance for any info
