  1. If you are using a wide band lambda sensor in closed-loop mode I don't think a barometric pressure sensor is necessary. At higher altitudes or during lower barometric pressure conditions there is less oxygen for a given volume of air, so the mixture would be rich. I would expect the lambda sensor to detect this as unburned fuel and compensate accordingly. Only my opinion!!
  2. I had a nail in my CR500 and had it repaired. I explained it was used on track and they inserted a rubber bung in the leak/hole (presumably instead of vulcanising the rubber - not sure about that). I have done 3 track days and 2000 miles without any problems.
  3. Many thanks Oily - that's put my mind at rest. Closed loop has restored economy (certainly not my main driver though) and switching off all fueling on overun reduced pops in the exhaust. I am surprised and pleased to say that the engine runs smoother with properly timed hotter cams than the original mild ones. K04 is a really nice setup for the standard 1800 K.
  4. My engine is an 1800 K series with DVA K04 upgrade (hotter cams, Emerald ECU and Jenvey DTH TBs) with a wide-band lambda sensor in closed loop mode. A really good combination IMO. I am happy with my current map which is AFR=14.7 at low revs and low load moving to AFR=12.5 at high revs and high load. I have a powerspeed exhaust with a cat built-in the silencer. My question is whether I could damage the cat at the lower AFRs (running rich), particularly when driven on track.
  5. SM25T, I live near Dronfield, about half way between Chesterfield and Sheffield. Postcode S18 4AU. There's no particular rush so if you are likely to be in the area sometime that would be great. Otherwise, just let me know the postage. Many thanks, Steve.
  6. I joined the club in January 2009. I'd be interested in some copies before that date if they are still available. Cheers, Steve H
  7. ...and no number plates front or back - brand new car? Looks so much better without the plates!!
  8. Did exactly the same. I wondered if it would be bright enough as the 'normal' change up lights have several LEDs which flash. No problem though with the 10mm high brightness mounted between the dials. Recommended for anyone with Emerald ECU.
  9. I connected a large (10mm) bright red LED to the shift light output of the Emerald. It doesn't flash but it's very bright (you wouldn't miss it). Simple solution if you have an Emerald and works well.
  10. I fitted a 7" Powerspeed with integral cat over Xmas. Very well designed and excellent quality.
  11. I was with Oily on Thursday/Friday for a K04 upgrade (new cams, DTH TBs and ECU) to upgrade my Xpower 140. I must say that I have 100% confidence in his work and it's well worth wait to have a job done to the best possible standard. As you can tell, I'm well please with the end result - a big smile on my face for the 100 mile drive back in the driving rain! I think we are well served by DVA, Powerspeed, Emerald etc. Thanks also to Steve Grubb (Grubbster) for sharing his experiences of the same upgrade path and getting me off the fence!
  12. I did my first track day at Cadwell a few weeks ago and I would say JUST DO IT. I was happier to book the club day rather than a public event. There are some very fast cars on the track but eveyone is considerate. Provided that you don't obstruct the faster cars (ease off and let them go) they will not barge through or cause you trouble. Cadwell is open pit lane rather than seperated by ability which isn't ideal for a first go but even that was fine. The problem is you want more! I have booked Oulton and Cadwell again. If you are going to either of these I would be happy to take you around first or let you follow me but you will soon be off and away.
  13. Yes please, I'll post the booking. BTW, is Oulton Park fully booked? If there's a place there I'll book both!! Thanks, Steve
  14. Hi Geoff, Are there any places left for Cadwell in Sept? Steve H
