  1. H, If you are not too bothered that you MAY get a 'Q' registration then you should be able to source plenty of 2nd hand parts ... seats , wheels, weathergear etc... see for sale section. This could make the car end up being cheaper. Not sure if the starter kits now are for de dion & / or live axle, if you go the live axle route you can specify that the chassis be built allowing the Ford axle instead of the Ital. I went this route in 1998, call if you want to chat... 0114 274 6166 Mark.

Alan, I'm sure Bruce Robinson at Arch Motors would send you a paper template if you gave him a call. Not sure of the phone number myself but others may add it here. Good luck. Mark.
  3. Thanks for all the advice / comments, I'll report on what happens.
  4. Hi All, I have a small map lamp from the 60's era that is a bit pitted. Any idea on how to remove chrome prior to polishing & re-chroming ? Cheers.
  5. That means you could buy my number S7 DUO for £200 & still have £1100 in the bank. Mark. Sheffield. 07778 78 7643
  6. Tried last year ... no luck.... still got it, must be worth £200 all in ? I will be really peed off if I suddenly get a load of interest meaning that I should of upped the price !! Please call eve - Sheffield 0114 274 6166, or day 07778 78 7643. Thanks Mark. ( MASHA, you interested ?, would go with your A7 DUO !!! )
  7. Hi, What does a 'water wetter' do, is it suitable to use in a new ( Zetec ) engine, are there any down sides. The engine under question is not in a Caterham but a new Morgan. The engine runs hot on ALLthe late models ensuring that the radiator fan is on constantly when normal running temp is reached. Cheers, Mark. ( Former 2 x Caterham owner )
  8. The number is on a retention certificate, price includes the £80 transfer fee. If interested please call Mark on :- day 07778 787643 eve / weekend 0114 274 6166 Thanks
  9. Hi Nick, I have phoned & left a message, I am interested. Cheers, Mark. Sheffield. 07778 78 7643
  10. Before overfilling it may be worth asking if there are any extra baffles in the axle, I think they are sometimes added. Good luck, Mark.
  11. Tony, When I built my live axle in 1998 the chassis tunnel, drivers side, was made a cm or so wider at the rear most point. Arch motors ( they build all the chassis for Caterham ) did all the brackets etc on my Ford Escort axle, they may advise on the tunnel mod.If you live anywhere near Sheffield there is a really good 'prop shaft ' workshop in the Ecclesfield area. If interested I will search for their details. Good luck, Mark.
  12. Allen, A tip which may help is to grind a small amount off the 'nose' of the diff case, this will prevent the prop shaft / flange nylocks fouling the case. It is tidier to have the nylocks towards the rear of the car. Also on the diff case put washers under the banjo retaining nuts, this brings the nuts foward and allows a better fitting of the socket when tightening.Good luck. Mark.
  13. Mobil SHC seems to be cheap at Halfords at the moment, I have just bought 2 x 1 litre packs ( were priced at £9.99 each) but went through the till at £5 each.... a BARGAIN !! Jan, just realised your from Norway so Halfords store won't be much help to you ! Edited by - mark warren on 30 Apr 2002 23:37:45
