  1. Oh, the shoulder room thing as previously mentioned by mrp is something to consider if you plan to go far two-up. Tall people tend to have bigger frames all round and for me and a mate driving to Le Mans, the S3 was uncomfortable as we were leaning outwards slightly just to fit in the car. Having said that though, my mate could usefully lose a stone or two
  2. I'm an 86kg 6'3" and I started out in 2001 building one of the early SVs. With lowered floors, pedals in the "far" position and leather seats but with the leather squab removed and replaced with a two part moulded foam squab in an Oxted seat tray (effectively letting me sit on the floor). It was comfy enough for touring Europe and fitting enough for sprinting and hill climbing. But I needed more speed in the sprints and hill climbs so I sold it and bought a Superlight to save the 25 or so kg weight penalty in an SV. I did the same mods (floor, pedals, seat squab) and I fitted in it, with sufficient clearance - just - between crash helmet and roll bar. My competitiveness was disappointingly similar to the SV and I never enjoyed the lack of any room to move in the cockpit. It was just too tight. I stuck with it for five years and it never got better so I sold it and have just got myself another SV, 420R. Room to breath again Rob
  3. Ian Sorry about the delay but I've just been out to check on the fuel clip and it is a three prong clip. It's been holding on since it went to the garage and has presumably been well pushed back in so, taking aerobod's comments on board re the fragility of these clips, I'm going to leave it alone for now and try to get hold of a three pronged clip.
  4. Summit Racing are selling a pack of 6 for $5.99 but shipping is $26 min. Are you around and available at all next week? I'm still in Chesterfield so I could pop round to yours to see what your repair kit includes - later in the week if poss to avoid the risk of getting drenched in the forecast thunderstorms. PM me a contact number if you are available. Cheers Rob
  5. Bob That is the right fuel line male end and the Dorman 800-016 looks like the right clip I just need to get hold of one (or a 6-pack) but will have to research where from; Amazon sellers either haven't got any or want £41 for six but that includes free postage. Thanks for your help
  6. It's the 485 one that I have and yes, the clip is shown in the photo. I don't want to spend £241 on a 50p clip though. The garage I took it to to source the clip got nowhere with CC or Ford so the car's back with me now to sort it out. To be fair to them, they haven't charged me anything for what they tried to do. Looks like i'll have to hope it won't happen again now the fuel pipe end has been properly pushed in.
  7. Bob, the tank fitting is female and the fuel line is male so sounds similar to yours and I think you are probably right about it just not being fully engaged. It is a Ford sender/pump unit. To be on the safe side, I'm going to try to replace the white plastic luggy bit that fits into the sender unit, and into which fits the fuel pipe. The guys sourcing the luggy part are just trying to find out if it's part of the sender/pump unit or part of the fuel line terminal
  8. I've been to Cadwell Park today and enjoyed myself this morning, but after lunch I tried to start the engine (420R duratec 2016) but it just kept spinning over. After some head scratching someone spotted petrol on the ground under the tank (don't tell Jonathan) and it turns out the pump had blown the black fuel pipe connector off of the white plastic pump/gauge unit located in the top of the tank. I pushed it back in but it seems to be just a push fit with some white plastic lugs trying, and failing, to stop it from being blown out by the fuel pressure when turning on the ignition. The engine fired easily. I've had a good look and can't see anything broken around the black fuel line connector or the white "luggy" bit; it seems to be a poor design. I'm concerned it will happen again when it's less convenient. Is it poor design? Has anyone else suffered this problem? Has anyone found a solution? Am I missing something? All help gratefully received
  9. Ed PM sent. I'd like to say "again" but the last one never went
  10. It's with you Stephen. Have you checked your dims? If I've not heard from you by tomorrow teatime I'll offer it to Ed.
  11. Stephen, I'm in Chesterfield. Let me know if you need any more dims. I'll be at the Anglesey trackday on 10 August, and I also plan to be at Curborough for the August Bank Holiday sprint rounds if that helps and you're not desperate for it
  12. Careful Guy , I've just upgraded to SV *biggrin*
  13. I have a spare unused Oxted plastic seat base tray which was for a 2002 car. The seat base trays are the same for S3 and SV. I was going to use it to make myself a new 2-part PU foam seat (taking into account canoeing lessons learned obviously) but the bit of the tray that slots into the seat frame is about 1cm wider on this spare tray than the ones currently used in my 2016 vintage SV. So this available seat tray is too wide for my new seat frame; where it slots into the seat frame the tray is 24cm wide at the front and 27.5cm at the back (for comparison, my 2016 car's seat tray is 23cm and 26.5cm) So I've ordered one that fits my 2016 seat frame from Oxted and have this spare one for sale - £10 plus postage at cost if required. NB these are £20 with L7C discount from Oxted
  14. Is there much difference between an S3 seat squab and an SV version? The seat frames and the trays on which the squabs are built are the same for S3 and SV
  15. I've just been into the loft to check and you are quite right , they are actually the Caterham KN 6.5"Js I've amended to original post
