The new blades do work better Stuart. The original version could damage the glass. They aren't cheap tho' and some people bend the existing arms to suit the new blades. As my old ones were kn*ckered I bought the arms as well. Brrrrrrrrr.....
  2. "Is this info retrievable or have I totally screwed it up ??? I know there are some clever members out there, someone must know. If not recommendations for a replacement PDA type thing that doesn`t cost the earth please." If both power sources were out then I'm afraid you've lost the data Shagbat, only a restore from an external backup would restore it. If you were happy with the Psion and don't want something flash or expensive then I have a 3c thats covered with about an inch of dust somewhere. It's free to a good home as I'll never use it again. Let me know if you want it as I'll have to dig through several boxes to find it, it's been hiding since I last moved.
  3. Hi Miraz, YHM re washer & pump Brrrrrrrrr.....

    GOGGLES ARRIVED

Cheers Fred, arrived this morning *thumbup* Brrrrrrrrr.....
  5. There's a bug report by Fred that the email to user's profile hasn't been working for a few days, he didn't receive mails from me re an XL1 order, but that it now seems to work. Be worth trying another mail now Veitchy. Brrrrrrrrr.....
  6. Thanks for the replies all, fortunately I made it round most of the Rumble before having to find a railway station so that my navigator could get a train home before they packed up for the night. The car's booked in for some other things in a few weeks so I'll get the pump looked at/binned then. The Rumble was great fun, even more fun to open the garage this morning to find a pool of fluid under the radiator.... after much grovelling around checking hoses etc., I found that the screen washer bottle had been split by a stone *smile* Brrrrrrrrr.....
  7. mmmm on the eve of the Rumble....... 3 times today whilst stationary in traffic I heard a loud whirring/rattling noise, finally recognised it as the fuel pump going ballistic, for about 15 seconds or so, much louder & faster than when the ignition is turned on, (car is 1600 8v Vx). Any soothsayers out there reckon I'll meet a 'Very nice man' tomorrow, (as in the old AA advert) 🤔 Anyone met this problem before, is it easy to source/replace before it shuffles off this mortal coil, or just a gremlin that might go away 🤔 He says hopefully................. (Edited cos I can't speel) Brrrrrrrrr..... Edited by - Snowman on 20 Sep 2003 18:40:27
  8. Great!. Thanks Geoff. Brrrrrrrrr.....
  9. Hi all, is it OK to turn up just to watch the event as I have a day off on the 23rd or are spectators not allowed 🤔 Brrrrrrrrr.....
  10. You could always swap the SV for a Classic Tony. Then you'd have no problem at all hitting as many pedals as you like with one foot 😬 😬 😬 Brrrrrrrrr.....
  11. With so many Nay's I have to agree with Jerry, they do make a difference, if I lost my deflectors I'd buy some dirt cheap off someone that thinks they are naff. I don't mind the '7 hairdo' , or the feeling of having your brains pulled out through the nostrils by coathangers when at speed but I do find that the turbulence impairs vision when not wearing my XL1 goggles and ordinary sunglasses are much more comfortable when on a long drive, so I wear them when below 50mph. Judging by the amount of gravel that I have to regularly empty out they probably also save me from being sandblasted as well. As for damaging the car Guy, mine rest on a transparent 'blobs' that protect the paintwork and they don't move at all regardless of speed. To misquote Nic, it's much more fun without the sidescreens 😬 😬 😬 Brrrrrrrrr.....
  12. Err, probably this one here not used it myself though but it's been mentioned a few times along with some other 'cures' for this problem. Brrrrrrrrr.....
  13. Seen a few mentions of here before Brrrrrrrrr.....
  14. Not a lot is the answer There was a thread a few weeks ago about this, which I can't find, where several people mentioned that the mileage clocks up a small amount each time you turn on the ignition. Brrrrrrrrr.....
  15. Ralph, I had 'ears' added to my tonneau cover by Oxted trimming a couple of months ago as they are only a few miles from me. Cost was £61.69 inc VAT, phoned a couple of days before, had the tonneau fitted and measured for position of the seats, went for a blat round Kent & picked the cover up an hour and a half later. They had done a very good job. I don't know what Jill Judd charges for the same amendment but have seen quite a few posts from people happy with her work. Brrrrrrrrr.....
  16. Thanks for the advice Chris, unfortunately the garage is about 80 yards away from my flat across some landscaped gardens, don't think the other residents would take too kindly to me digging a trench across them Looks like I'll have to drive it in the snow instead 😬
  17. Er, not quite a hijack, but as I have a garage, but no power supply would one of the following solar panels, (lifted from an old thread), be a workable solution mounted on the garage roof during winter? "Two waterproof and corrosion resistant solar panels for outdoor use. The panels are weatherproof and resistant to wind, rain, humidity, snow, ice, sand, sea air and deterioration by ultraviolet light. These panels are intended to be used as battery chargers and lead acid battery trickle chargers. A reverse blocking diode is built in to prevent battery discharge and protect the panel cells. A tilt stand, made up from supplied parts, can be assembled and mounted on a vertical or horizontal surface, or can be free-standing, to catch the sun (screws supplied). Each panel is provided with red and black leads terminated in either insulated crocodile clips or car battery style clamps. The mechanical construction is extremely strong and able to withstand heavy weights. Order Nominal Max. Nominal Max. Code voltage voltage current current CJ41U 12V 16V 50mA 60mA CJ40T 12V 16V 120mA 140mA " Brrrrrrrrr.....

My bookends are worn out and need replacing. If you've got another one in similar condition Buda I'll offer £50 for two. Brrrrrrrrr.....
  19. Phew! Chalk up another success for Tech Talk Daylight & a can of WD40 worked. I'll get a new switch on Monday & a monster sized directional torch! Do wave if you spot me today, I'll be the one stopping every few miles to check they still work 😬 Brrrrrrrrr.....
  20. Thanks Mike, I'll try not to let anything go Boinngg! Brrrrrrrrr.....
  21. Thanks Mark. The switch seems to move freely enough. I'll try to take it apart tomorrow, don't suppose anyone knows if there's any danger of somewhere that would sell a new one on a, very sunny, Sunday? Brrrrrrrrr.....
  22. Hi all, just found that both brake lights are not working. Have followed the advice on brake light problem threads, ta all, the lights work when I jump the spade connectors. Both adjustment nuts were completely loose, I've tried adjusting them up and down the thread till I swallowed the torch that I was holding in my teeth 😬 As it's now too dark to try much more can anyone advise where the nuts should be adjusted in order to function or is it likely that the switch itself is stuffed? Thanks, Phil Brrrrrrrrr.....
