  1. Connectors still attached and the fitting seems firm in place, but I don't have a nice hole and grommet in the side of the footwell, so looks like I'm going to have to make one! Mot may be delayed a few days..... Thanks for the comments and the part no too, ECR Wrightpayne, surely current runs through when the ignition is on and reverse selected, which is what I did but no power at the fitting?
  2. Bulb checked, and checked with a meter too, no power to the fitting, and brake lights all fine, the rev light has been flickering, so I'll go and have a look shortly, thanks Ian.
  3. Hmm, seems they do on vehicles first used after 1 Sept 2009, my car is older, but I'd rather not be in an argument with the tester, any suggestions? Looks a bugger to change too, and I haven't got one and I've got precious little time to fit one either.
  4. ....under the new rules that came in this May? Says it all really, MOT due on Friday, only back from a summer in Spain yesterday and I suspect the switch has failed. Does anyone know where the switch actually is? 2000 K series S3, 5 speed type 9 box?? Thanks Peter G
  5. Might help to say what diameter you’re looking for??
  6. Good to see you’ve washed it at last!! Shame to see it go, good luck with the sale.
  7. Withdrawn from Sale for now. Peter G
  8. New battery fitted, plus a cut off switch, and so far all seems good.
  9. Tom, going to stick with Banner, as I've already paid for it. Perhaps next time, they usually last me 3 years. We've agreed I'll take the old one to the tip, sorry, the household waste recycling centre, for err, recycling.
  10. I did jump start the car, and it runs fine of the alternator, but even with the car running for 20 minutes it won't charge, and yes the plates are still covered with acid. The battery supplier has agreed to send me a replacement battery so hopefully up and running for the weekend.
  11. Piers, that was the conclusion I came to, the voltage is settling about 10,4V so sounds like one has gone. Thanks.
  12. Thanks chaps, the only thing I haven't done is check levels, will do tonight. I do have the receipt, how I post it back could be challenging?!?!?
  13. Just go back from hols to find my 3 month old Banner battery was flat, (very flat) so connected the Ctek MXS overnight, and it gets so far along the series of lights (number 4 or 5) then the warning light comes on. Swapped for a standard charger for 12 hours, and the voltage comes up to about 10.5 volts. Jump started it to get some more charge in it, and it runs fine, but won't re-start on it's own. Reconnected CTEK overnight, still only 10.5 volts so won't start, now on the standard charger again. Does this indicate a duff battery, as it's difficult to believe 2 chargers are both defective at the same time? Cheers
  14. Another for SFS. I was part of a bulk but but I believe they now offer a discount to club member. And yes use the hex with a ratchet to tighten, and recheck now and then, not had any leakage for over a year now.
  15. The tool box I bought had drawers inked with foam anyway, worth checking out.
  16. If you're talking about a complete engine swap, you will need a different loom as there are sensors etc for the vvc gubbins that you don't get in the standard K. I swapped from a 1.6 to a 1.8 vvc, and enrolled 2 fellow members to help, fortunately one of them knew what he was doing on the wiring. The ECU also needs to be swapped over as the map is different. To be honest the cost of doing all that for an additional 20bhp is a lot of work and not a small cost, so you need to get think if it's worth it. The next setup of course is to abandon the vvc stuff and utilise the better head dynamics a hotter cams, so you never stop! Having said that my 7 is so much more fun now , better all round, but particularly on low revs pick up.
  17. Thanks all, weekend went ok, reluctantly started every time. Reckon the battery is failing, so yes please William, what you up to this weekend? Or next?
  18. Gents, my little used K series VVC has developed the annoying habit of being very reluctant to start. When starting today it was difficult to get going, and needed a decent amount of loud pedal for it to catch, and if released it would stall. When warmer and under way it seems fine (I didn't go far today sadly). It sounds like a sensor problem to me. I've tried the TPS (?) reset to no avail and I will check battery and earth terminals later (I'm still working allegedly) as it was also giving signs of a flattish battery despite it recording 12.5+ volts. Any other suggestions? Off on the PMMB tomorrow and don't really want to get stranded.
  19. Good point Andy, I'll be sure to tell them.
  20. Sounds like the same tone yo me, just louder! I was hoping it might play te opening bars to the 1812 overture, but no luck. I'll get mot garage to fix the floor (local Morgan dealer that also services various Lotus and Caterhams)
  21. Try Rimmer Brothers. But as Jonathan says you do need to know which one you need.
  22. Well a bit more fiddling and I now have 2 horns, so all good, except the rivets on the drivers side floor have pulled through. Bugger.
  23. on my 2000 S3, pre mot fiddling has revealed only one of the two horns is working. I'm sure it'll be fine for the test, but are they different tones, or both the same weedy honk? Might go and get some noisy air horns in due course, but just wondering if anyone knows? Ta.
  24. Blue possibly SV reg P15 ONR I think. We were going the other way in the tin top. Nice day for it. Hope you kept dry.
