  1. I could also be interested if Gareth decides not to have it Andy. My telephone number is 01823 421748. Thanks.
  2. Thanks for the reply both of you. I am very definately interested still. Could you let me have an indication of price and location and we can take it from there. It might be easier to e mail me directly on paulejacobs@hotmail.com or the phone number is 01823 421748 if you prefer. Paul.
  3. £80 sounds fine to me, I'll drag it out of the loft and check that it really is 100%. It's been there for about 4-5 years since I stopped playing with crossflows. I live just outside Taunton, so I'm quite happy to hang on to it till you get down here.
  4. A couple more suggestions for the list: Change the front cycle wing stays for lightweight ones, maybe ali, made up by a local engineering company If you've got a standard steering wheel & boss, change it for a v. lightweight Racetec or Momo one Change the standard 7" headlights for 5" ones, lighter and more aerodynamic, maybe have some ali. brackets made which can be lower too The diff weighs a ton, I haven't tried it yet, but the one off a Suburu looks smaller and lighter and comes with an LSD already fitted. Don't know about the ratios though. I think it's been mentioned, but the S/S stoneguards on the rear wings could go, there are various cheap stick on alternatives If you've got one of the older metal 7 badges on the nosecone, change it for a plastic one. Ditch the rattly plug cover. Does anyone make up rollover bars which are just as strong but use lighter metal? Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21-Now sold, back in the fold with my new 1600K Seven

    Speeding

Yes, good point. Have a look at my posting under "Lies, damm lies and stats, re speeding" in chit chat. As a matter of interest, I understand that the girl who sadly died in the Z3 was probably just going too fast, as nothing appears to be wrong with the car, which was only serviced a couple of days earlier.
  6. Would £100:00 be out of the question? Given the comparable S/H cost of, say, K series or Vx bellhousings? Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21-Now sold, back in the fold with my new 1600K Seven
  7. I do have a spare one, but I really don't have a clue what it's worth [oh, all right then, I have an idea, but it may be a lot less than either of you want to pay], so what is it worth to you? Very good condition with no cracks natch.
  8. Sorry to mention something non 7 related here, but I know a few of you run BMWs. If anyone has a genuine BMW OE supplied 6 CD stacker unit, which is fitted in the boot, and is from a fairly recent car, say up to 3-4 years old, I would be very interested in buying it from you. Get back to me. Thanks Paul Jacobs
  9. It may be worth while speaking to Len Unwin, see the Freestyle Motorsport Advert in LF. If I remember rightly, for racing he used to say that you could go up to around 400lbs on the front, but don't for goodness sake think about stiffening the back end up, this will promote wildly exciting oversteer if you do. Then again, it could be worth a try, if you find life boring....... Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21-Now sold, back in the fold with my new 1600K Seven
  10. I'm just putting on the lighting bits and peices, and really hate seeing the side indicator repeators on the top edge of the cycle wings. They just don't seem to belong there, how about positioning them as far back as accesibility will allow on the body sides? Is this position OK for SVA? 11. As far as I know, there is NO legal way that a "Q" prefix plate can be changed once it has been issued. It doesn't matter that the chassis was brand new, if there are parts which are secondhand, even though they may have been made at the same time as the chassis, then it will always be given a "Q" There are many owners of "Q" plates who would like to change them, maybe for a cherished number, so if anyone knows anything different, I'm sure that the info. will be most helpfull. On the plus side though, they are non dating, and are far easier at MoT time, as they are classed as cars needing only a visual smoke test. Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 - For Sale. [Now with a deposit taken]
  12. But, at the moment there doesn't appear to be anything quite like this on the market anywhere. Magnus, many thanks for your kind offer to build a prototype. Can I get back to you in due course. Out of interest, would it be possible to configure it, so that one unit can be reprogammed to ring various numbers and be put into various cars, depending on the one that is most at risk at the time? Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale, £16k should do it!]
  13. OK, I don't think that there is much interest from Blatchatters, can anyone recomend some good places to advertise a niche market car like the 21?
  14. Halfway across Arnie - I could regret this, it may very well end in tears Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale - £16k should do it!]
  15. Sound of two jaws hitting the deck.......... Thanks Magnus, it sounds so easy Seriously though, that really is great - I thought that in essence it must be relativly simple and with great scope to send certain commands back to the ECU as well. I'm only surpised that more people haven't done anything about it on this side of the pond. You haven't got any working prototypes, which would work with one of the UK neworks, that you want to sell do you? Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  16. I was hoping that you come back on that one Julian. Very detailed answer - thanks. A bit too expensive though, I fancy. As you've done the digging already, it seems that that is it then. Pity, I thought it could work so well to, oh well back to Tracker then. I wonder if they do discounts for several cars? Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  17. Don't tempt me........... Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  18. Don't pagers use the BT or some other network? Therefore range shouldn't be a problem. As far as battery life is concerned, can't they use rechargable batteries, so whenever the engine is running the charge gets topped up. Not on a monthly basis obviously, but daily perhaps. Sorry, I'm either missing something crucial here, or it's a bl**dy good idea that's just waiting to be developed! Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  19. Does anyone have a complete exhaust system for a 1600 K series, preferably with a catalyst, but if not it doesn't matter too much. A "competition" system with the longer primaries would be a bonus. Let me know what you've got, how much you want and where the heck you are please. Many thanks. BTW I still appear to be looking for a recent fresh air heater if there is one hanging around in someones garage. Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  20. Well, 62 people have looked at the topic and so far not one of you know if there is such a device. What are people thoughts on this - would it work, or am I just barking up the wrong tree? Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  21. Well Andy, The engine cost me £400 originally, the rebuild, with new piper cams, was another £700, the Alpha-Weber ECU and Thobble Botties were £750 second hand with under 6 months use, plus miscellaneous parts like a Caterham sump etc. Care to make an offer? Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  22. Yes, ''fraid so. ☹️ Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
  23. My car really does have to go a good home. A new owner has to be discerning, not mind being envied and stared at in the street or have complete strangers come up to them, offering things like their wives in exchange or being asked to take brides, who they don't know, to church on their wedding day. These are all things which have happened to me, since I registered my 21 in May 1997, then on a "P" plate, although now wearing the number TEN 36 [which I will take off the car when it is sold]. It is a well known and thoroughly developed car, now fitted with a 245bhp SBD built and tuned Vauxhall 16v dry sumped engine, running on individual throttle bodies, with much internal work done, mated to a tuned length, big bore, triple silencer exhaust system, showing 96dbs, when last tested at Castle Combe a couple of months ago. The gearbox is a close ratio Brian Hill helical unit, with a quickshift lever and at the back is a Caterham supplied Limited Slip Diferrential. Suspension is fully uprated and has been flat floor setup within the last 12 months. Shockers are AVO adjustable units with uprated front and rear springs, with front and rear adjustable anti roll bars, 4 pot AP calipers on the front, with huge ventilated and cross drilled front discs, running Pagid pads all round, and a Caterham "Competition" big bore master cylinder. Stopping and cornering is now simply awesome! 😳 In spite of the power, the engine is completely tractable on the road and in traffic. It DOES NOT spit, stutter, die, surge, fail to start, consume vast quantities of fuel, overheat or show any signs of temprement whatsoever. It truly is a pussycat, except when you press the thottle hard. It will eat Exiges, M3s', most Porches and lesser Sevens for breakfast, will give most superbikes a good run for their money and will always entertain and reward. It has no funny tricks and will not bite back. It has never been involved in an accident or any off road "incident" - ever. The chassis and bodywork are as straight as the day it left the factory as it should be with only 13,742 miles under its' wheels. If a 21 is what you want then check out this car. I am looking for an offer in the region of £16,000:00. Considering the amount of money that I've put into this car and its' current condition, this just has to be some kind of a bargain [though not for me]! Check it out on www.entty.co.uk - sorry the site will take ages to download, go and make a drink, it's worth a look when you get back though. In addition, I have by seperate negotiation, a complete, newly rebuilt Vauxhall 16v XE engine, with an Alpha-Weber throttle body and ECU set up, running piper cams it should put out around 180 -200 bhp, but is currently unrun since the rebuild. There is also a standard 5 speed gearbox as well as a set of 16" wheels shod with Yoko 32's. I will sell seperately or together. Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale - £16k should do it!] Edited by - Paul Jacobs on 25 Aug 2002 22:36:37
  24. Yes, I know that you can register, for a charge, with Tracker so that if your car is moved they will ring you on your phone and check that this is legit., but it occurred to me that it wouldn't be difficult for someone with a bit of knowledge to make a little "Black Box" which could be hidden in the car and programmed to dial out on one of the mobile networks, to a pre-registered number, if it became actuated after being set. This need not involve any sort of registration as such, beyond being connected to a mobile phone service supplier, but obviously wouldn't allow the car to be tracked. BUT, you would know if it was being interferred with though, and if close by, could do something about it. I haven't seen such a security device, but does anyone know if there is one made and marketed, if not, are there any good reasons why such a device can't be made for a reasonable price? Failing that, how about one that sends out a signal to a pager or similar device? If there is money to be made, don't forget who thought of the idea! Red 245 bhp 21 Now for sale. [Offers around £16k considered!] Edited by - Paul Jacobs on 25 Aug 2002 13:23:10
  25. Hey, you cheeky devil John, speak for yourself! I've only put on weight since I had the 21, and then only in direct proportion to the size of the 21 - ie rather like a jelly mould being filled with jelly. Getting out however is a little more of a problem these days! Red 245bhp Vauxhall powered 21 [Now For Sale]
