  1. I was hoping to avoid the added expense and hole-trimming hassle of changing the primaries to 4-2-1 but it's beginning to sound like that might be the easier off-the-shelf solution without resorting to custom-made kinks etc James - thanks for the offer, I might take you up on that. I haven't had chance to speak to Powerspeed yet - is it a case of taking the car down there for bespoke fitting or can it be done remotely / by post?
  2. Should've said, I can't find any reference to a K-series competition exhaust + cat combination in the archives - I did try!
  3. Hi all I'm looking for some guidance through the bewildering array of exhaust setups and some recommendations on replacing my existing silencer with a cat + silencer combo. I have an original 1.6K Superlight with the competition/race 4-1 primaries, no cat and a 5" silencer which needs replacing. As the car is a 2002 model, I do also need a cat for MOT time and at this stage I'm happy to run with it all year as the car for is road-use only. There was a cat on the car at some point in its history but not when I bought it. The other concern is ground-clearance - a previous owner swapped to a 5" silencer because of grounding on hard right cornering, and would ideally like to keep the current clearance as I only have mms to spare when exiting my drive and negotiating the plethora of speed humps around here. I was interested in the Meteor Motorsport cat-in-the-can solutions but sadly they are no longer supplying them. I'd be grateful for any BC wisdom on the subject for a mechanical novice... thanks Paul
  4. Canisters and bags arrived safely - thanks Jonathan :-) Awaiting fitment now....
  5. Briefly spotted in the centre of Headingley on Saturday afternoon (Mar 14) heading towards the Skyrack...
  6. Mine came today too, and I must have been one of the later orders as I only ordered mid-Jan Brown leather strap too - fantastic watch, absolutely loving it Many thanks to those that made this happen
  7. I've given in and ordered one. Haven't told SWMBO yet as I only bought a bew watch in November...
  8. Order updated to 2x canisters and 2x red bags please thanks Paul

Quoting Roger Ford: The MM one is a great lightweight jack - ideal for transporting to race meetings or track days. The Arcan looks like it might be a better garage jack - it's quick-lift and goes significantly higher (508mm vs 375mm). More money, though. The height gain is significant, and for the sake of an extra £30-40 quid over the long term, plus the extra lift capacity, that's why I went for it. It's pretty big though; agree that the MM one would be better for mobile/track use unless you've got a full support van!

Search ebay for an Arcan 2T (1.8 UK) Professional jack for around 140-150 quid. Brilliant piece of kit and big enough for your average tiptop too here
  11. Quoting makingff: I would definitely be interested. I have been looking at Christopher Ward watches recently so this would be a good excuse to buy one! Me too - perfect timing (pun not really intended ). Have been admiring the C7 Rapide II from the CW website. Prefer the face of the top image but like others I also like the grey on black subtlety of the second.... Survey done.

  13. And not before time... Red, Leicester also...
  14. Spotted going east towards Bedale early on Sunday afternoon. Possibly the same Seven spotted later at Aysgarth Falls Visitor Centre car park - red with black chequer graphics on the sides kin. Attracting the usual attention from dads and small boys
  15. Currently for sale in Redditch for £30K - on PIstonheads here
  16. Great thanks I assume the cat it had at a point in the past was just for MOT purposes then. A quick look at the rest of the Superlight register photos suggests most came with this exhaust. Off to google what R300 exhausts look like... 😶‍🌫️
  17. Quoting Adrian Williams: Mostro, I don't think there are any documents on this. From memory there were 4 different exhaust systems from CC available for the K some of which had their designs change during the time they were available to extend the options even further: 4:1 INSIDE engine bay so single pipe exiting the side skin, cat built into the front end of the silencer. 4:1 competition/race, no cat available hence the name, 5" and possibly 6" cans available. 4:2:1 SLR, with cat or bypass pipe, silencers in 5", 6" and 7" (no heat guard for the 7" jobbie). R3/4/500. With cat or bypass pipe, titanium sleeved can. In essence all are compatible as COMPLETE systems but some will work better than others depending on engine. If you you try and mix the headers, collectors and cans from different systems they won't go together without severe modification. Also there were various 'quiet' exhausts that weren't sold in large numbers with rear mounted silencers and the like, non of which were the last word in ground clearance. Edited by - Adrian Williams on 21 May 2014 13:35:07 Brilliant, thanks However, mine has 4 header pipes exiting the side skin, into a 4-1 collector. Under previous ownership it had a cat + 6" can but these were replaced by a long 5" can (no cat) - so still not clear if I have the comp exhaust or the Rxxx one?? Unfortunately don't have a clear picture to hand which would make things easier. Apologies for (i) numpty questions and (ii) further hijacking... Edit: tell a lie, this is the current set up from an old photo http://www.thecaterhamregister.net/images/SLs/Superlight%20No.190.jpg Edited by - Mostro on 21 May 2014 21:36:42
  18. Apologies in advance for a minor thread hi-jack.... Is there any resource or documentation which describes the various exhausts available for Sevens - and which is compatible for which model? I have a 4-1 on an original Superlight, no cat and a 5" can - where can I see the options available to me?
  19. I used http://www.fancyplates.com, less than £20, very fast delivery and comes with all the fitting bits you need (coloured screw caps etc) 3/4 size fits the nosecone width perfectly and with standard font you'd be hard pushed to tell that it's not quite normal size - as neither is the car! Aside from the legalities, I can also confirm -sadly- that scamera vans can definitely still read them 🙆🏻
  20. Quoting revilla: OMG - you have an "inner-Revilla" - that's scary, seek treatment immediately 😬 😬 I was thinking about this as I headed out today having just swapped in a new water temp sensor... 60-65deg *feels* about right. And then I found an alternative solution which is to get stuck in a right filter lane behind some numpty incapable of turning between occasional oncoming traffic. After this, oil temp and blood pressure are both up to maximum operational levels...
  21. so frustrating isn't it - out of consideration for the neighbours I don't really have the opportunity to let it idle to warm through before setting off, at least earlyish on a Sunday morning. However, it takes me 15 minutes or so to get clear of north Leeds and onto the interesting stuff so I'm usually good to go by then. I haven't set myself a standard minimum temperature to wait for - maybe my inner-Revilla would be more comfortable with that... Edited by - Mostro on 18 May 2014 09:34:30
