  5. The oil pressure sender on my 2001 R500 has packed up (hopefully!). I have a stack dash and the oil pressure sender is a standard diaphragm one with 2 wires. The sensor is remote mounted via a braided hose. On the CC website I see that they are selling a Stack solid state pressure sender - can I fit this to my car (£130) or shall I just replace it like for like (£69)? Don't want to fit a mechanical gauge as it will spoil my dash. Thanks Duncan

    FIA Headrest

Is it dangerous to drive with one of these fitted (with tillet seats) if you are not wearing a helmet? Duncan
  9. Probably too late now but for future information Opal Fruits (or Starburst as they are now called) work suprisingly well for emergency fuel tank repairs! 2 chews then just press it over the hole. I did it last year when my rear anti-roll bar snapped and punctured my tank - the repair stayed fuel tight for a couple of weeks before i fixed it with some of that chemical metal stuff.

    Dry Sump Pan

I am looking for a k-series dry sump pan. Ideally magnesium but aluminium is fine. Thanks Duncan
  12. My car does now have an MOT thanks to Minister Power. Throttle position sensor was a bit dodgy so changed that (they are not cheap though ~£70!). Also the connections to the water temp sensor for the ecu were corroded. Apparently the map is set up so if the ecu does not detect any temperature sensor then it assumes by default that the engine is overheating so dumps loads of fuel in. Depite these fixes there is no replacement for a friendly testing station and a Fiesta parked alongside
  13. I just bought some of the pins from SBD about 5 mins ago. 56p + vat each!
  14. I have no way of measuring air flow but just checked the TPS and am getting +0.43V on the centre pin at idle. Duncan Edited by - DuncanM on 4 Apr 2010 18:04:01
  15. 2001 R500 with CAT fitted - Lambda sensor in No4 primary, MBE ECU CO - 6.53% HC Level - 1398ppm Lambda - 0.79 These readings are way off passing. The tester was so shocked by the numbers that they thought the machine was broken and re-calibrated it! I have a number of questions: 1) Is it likely that the Lambda sensor is broken - is there any way of testing it? 2) Is it possible to run an MOT friendly map like people do with Emeralds - does anybody have such a map? Thanks Duncan

    MFRU

Cheers Simon, Went to start the car to take it for an MOT on Saturday morning and it wouldnt turn over. I bypassed the starter relay and put in an external one which cured the starter problem but now the fuel pump doesnt work! I have isolated the MFRU as the problem. Also took the opportunity to tidy up the wiring a bit, got rid of the old immobiliser and fitted a new one. I have bought the MFRU on ebay directly off Nigel so hopefully will have the car running again this weekend. Duncan
  18. Nigel, I would like to buy the MFRU. Are you willing so sell out of ebay? Thanks Duncan
  19. Matthew, I have tried emailing you a number of times to your canterbury address but they always come back as undeliverable. Is your mail box full? To confirm i would like to buy the screen Duncan

    MFRU

I think my MFRU has packed up with neither the starter motor nor fuel pump working. There is 12v on both of the brown/white wires going in but nothing on the yellow/green fuel pump feed or brown starter motor trigger. I have performed the standard relay mod for the starter motor which is now working. ECU fuse is fine and there is 12v on pins 1-3 of the input plug. Any ideas? Is this a standard Rover part that can be bought without paying Caterham prices? Thanks Duncan
