  1. Mechadaniel, you want to see the hump at the top of the track (sort of like a 1:4 slope up to a big speed bump, level the other side?), I've already scraped the bottom of the car on it at boggo ride height... Difference is the sump is almost between the wheels. I knew there was a reason the neighbours drive a landy... Maybe I should just do the Dukes of Hazzard thang and just hit the ramp as fast as possible. 2. Caterham? The chap at the SVA test seemed to like mine, no changes from standard needed. Norwich test centre SVC, Car Builder Solutions, Tifosi? John _________________________ Formerly known as AllyCat (changed to respect the true 'alicat') Bugsy: '82 2cv6 Tallulah: '08 1.6K Classic
  3. I don't have the luxury of going for a lowered floor, though I can't wait until I can... At the moment I live down a dirt track and the car is close enough to the stones already... I have the composite buckets though, dead comfy and a little lower than the standard seats. Just about did the trick. Will be binning the Motolita in favour of a Momo at some point... slysee, like the idea of a spacer. I have this nasty habit of flashing my lights when I turn corners, I'd like the wheel a bit closer. One to look into... 4. Pics are a signature Steve... (Edit to say Ian beat me to it...) I'm 6'3 and fit 'ok' in my S3, but then I have relatively short legs. I think I'm going to have to start saving for a Momo, as the Motolita is too big and my hands hit my left leg sometimes. Depending on your setup, have you tried lengthening the cable and moving the pedal stop back? Don't forget to move all the other pedals if need be too. I actually moved the accelerator pedal towards me to get it feeling about right. What?! No cable to operate the clutch?!! How else would you want to do it? Pshhh. 😬 John _________________________ Formerly known as AllyCat (changed to respect the true 'alicat') Bugsy: '82 2cv6 Tallulah: '08 1.6K Classic Edited by - myothercarsa2cv on 9 Aug 2008 10:55:52
  5. Ric, what will the bullet cam fit? Have a sony camcorder... would appreciate make and model, cheers mate! John _________________________ Formerly known as AllyCat (changed to respect the true 'alicat') Bugsy: '82 2cv6 Tallulah: '08 1.6K Classic
  6. Just like the 2cv! Only way to have it, so much easier for normal driving... Makes changes nice and quick! I'd have it if I didn't think my parents were going to chuck me out for making their home look like a showroom forecourt... 😬 John _________________________ Formerly known as AllyCat (changed to respect the true 'alicat') Bugsy: '82 2cv6 Tallulah: '08 1.6K Classic
  7. With a standard 1.6 K (not SS) I've got 38 mpg calculated from indicated mileage on speedo and two fill ups, average of, and that includes the blat to goodwood yesterday. In reality, the number of miles covered is probably slightly less as much of the day yesterday was spent spinning the wheels. Hoping it will improve with less sensible driving and more enthusiasm 😬 😬 😬 John _________________________ Formerly known as AllyCat (changed to respect the true 'alicat') Bugsy: '82 2cv6 Tallulah: '08 1.6K Classic
  8. Hi, for my terratrip I just wired straight from the battery positive with an inline fuse. It told me to, so that's what I did... Earth goes back to the battery too. Works fine! And dead easy to set up, none of this faffing about with a multimeter... Just gotta remember to turn it off if I leave it in the car! 9. Cheers chaps, I think my brother will be getting a Caterham himself now he's been out in one and seen a few, he said to me 'why on earth would anyone get anything OTHER than a Caterham for the money?!' At least he's seen the light and is shying away from buying a rattler like that GTR that snuck off, sounded dreadful... Looking forward to next Tuesday, I might even polish it... Nathan, the roads were really wet ISTR... The roundabout at the bottom of death hill, I was sliding all the way round it... John Edit to say bro's name was Ed... _________________________ Formerly known as AllyCat (changed to respect the true 'alicat') Bugsy: '82 2cv6 Tallulah: '08 1.6K Classic Edited by - myothercarsa2cv on 30 Jul 2008 23:46:56

  11. Or can't I? I have just seen a post from a chap going by the name 'alicat' and thought I should step down, as he was obviously here first (on account of me being a member since Saturday). John Edit to say I have emailed sitemanager... _________________________ Paint weighs too much... Edited by - AllyCat on 29 Jul 2008 23:50:54
  12. How fast does the RST V8 levitation wotsit go top whack? Anyone been brave enough to try? Because that must have getting on to 550 bhp... John _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  13. You could strap a jet engine on to it? According to my Darwin Awards book some chap tried that with his car and they found the smoldering remains about 50 ft UP a cliff Looking at 200mph cars (off the top of my head, F1 car, Veyron, Batmobile...) all have ridiculous amounts of power and a fair amount of aero aids. Give it a go. I'll help you rob a bank to fund the 200mph Seven. _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  14. 😳 Blimey one on the way to the pub and five in the car park! Nice to meet you chaps, though next to your cars mine doesn't look so pretty ☹️ And I've only been driving 3 1/2 weeks now! I should clean it... Sorry if I don't remember all your names next Tuesday, and yes I'll learn to park 😬 John _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  15. Thanks, a warm welcome it has been! Nope not a chance of keeping up with the R1! 😬 But yes, I was very much enjoying myself! Hope to see you on the road! _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  16. I am I'm afraid a Dartford boy, I know I should grow up, I know I shouldn't watch all three fast and the furious films back to back, and yes a banging sound system in a seven... Now that would put the super back in soup-a-seven! I resent being called a boyracer. Yes, I'm young, yes I will rise to the challenge of anything, but a boyracer? Psch. I don't even have paint. Blank canvas for tribal art vinyls though Seriously though, flames are cool. Something like the effect of a top fuel drag car, flames shooting out of those short headers, now that would be entertaining... 😬 _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  17. Yeah I saw the thread about the blat, would have enjoyed that, but had to do a little servicing of my 2cv... 😬 I'm in Dartford, so Eynsford is good for me, I'll put it in my diary! I was out this afternoon too, absolutely glorious, but only saw a couple of locosts/robin hoods, but I did have my wingman (who is yet to join L7C 😔). Good fun, if a bit sunburnt _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  18. Hm well I get a faint pop-pop-pop at low rpm closed throttle... It's a pleasant sound. I like the upshift theory, though mapping it in might be a tad difficult with standard ECU? _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  19. Hm... I'm lost Far too technical for me. Running lean can't be too beneficial though? Too much heat? But then again, fuel is expensive, lean uses less, and yet you get flames you say... Works in my head. _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  20. Both this morning, a nice orange seven with deflector and cage going the other way up death hill (towards Brands), thanks for the wave, and another coming out of Hawley that was red but didn't see much of it. Waved, but you were chatting with the passenger. _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  21. Blimey, flamethrowers... Now that's an idea... 😬 So, no cat exhaust x 1, crazy cams x 2, programmle ECU x 1, flamethrower kit x 1... Think that should do me then! It was the R500 that did it for me, I got jealous. I wonder if a flamethrower kit might melt the tyres if used when moving... Could cook that squirrel stuck in the tread quite nicely by the time I get home _________________________ Paint weighs too much...
  22. Hi, as a newbie who is extremely happy with his new car ( )... How can I get flames coming out of the exhaust? Am I just being immature? Having a rover (exhaust exits on the correct side ) and living in a certain chav-tastic place, I figured I could burn peoples' ankles as I go round the one way system... Should grow up really. John
  23. Hi, didn't think my first post would be in response to being spotted! Thanks for the thumbs up, it's a 1.6K, bog standard. Had it on the road three weeks now, and dead chuffed with it! I'd have liked to have stayed with you on the way back but I haven't quite mastered the squeezing between two cars trick you bikers manage so easily! (And it was still running in... excuses excuses...) Cheers for the spot! Sorry about the traffic... :( Paint weighs too much
