I am in desperate need of the above named trailer. I don't need any "extras" like a winch or long ramps etc, but I do really really need one soon. Cash waiting.......... Oh yeah, no shuttles or anything longer than 16 feet, for those of you helpful folk who are about to offer alternatives. The Minno is the only thing that will fit in my garage. Thanks in advance.

When setting rivnuts, I always use a dab of Araldite or chemical metal. I haven't had one come loose yet, and the oldest ones are getting on for 11 years service. Do get them straight though!!

I would concur with Andrew. I've used stick on plates for about 4 years with never so much as a second glance from plod or MOT inspector. If you are anywhere near Devon or Cornwall, then place called Trago Mills (a large "sell everything cheap" emporium for west country folk) sell the blanks for under 2 quid, and letters at 10p each IIRC. I recently bought three sets of replacement "parts" for my car, so I can now jet wash with inpunity. Mind you, I haven't lost one yet, and don't look likely to, it's just that a thread on here recently suggested that they might become illegal to use or sell in the near future, and, like a good boy scout, I want to be prepared.

Yep....1.0 Daihatsu. Also look out for Daihatsu/Bedford Mini (as in Tonka Toy) vans, and, unless my eyes were deceiving me (always likely), new shape Rover 214's, badged as Magnetti Morelli. Also look at Jeep Cherokees, as I suggested earlier up the page........

The Cambridge Motorsport item, to my untrained eye, is identical in every respect to a Nippon Denso oe supplied Daihatsu "one wire" alternator. Your local motor factor should be able to supply one for about half what CM want, or do what I did, and buy a scrap one at a breakers and get it reconned. DT supply various pulleys, and a "universal" mount, no doubt for a price..........

The standard Daihatsu alternator is rated at 45/50 amps. Demon Tweeks do an uprated version, and although slightly larger at 118mm (over the 93mm standard Daihatsu item) puts out 150 amps. Mind you, they want 345 quid + vat for it........... I'm sure the high output one is the same as the one in a 4 litre Jeep Cherokee, but I haven't had a chance to measure and spec one yet. It's on the list of things to do, and seeing as there is some interest, I might bring the research forward, so to speak. As for the smaller, standard Daihatsu one being expensive, I got one from a scrappy for a tenner, and paid my local recon place 60 quid for a...er...recon. Not that much IMHO.
