  1. Hi Alan Thanks for the spot, my first I think. I hope your trip continues as you have planned. We have had some great roads and are looking forward to tomorrow. I took the half hood off, following your lead, and managed to avoid most of the showers. Lawrence
  2. Thanks for the info guys
  3. Does any one know what the red line is set at for a Duratec SSR/R400 with the 220 bhp Caterham upgrade? Thanks
  4. http://www.lotus7.club/forum/chitchat/healthy-competition This was my response the last time someone suggested it would make sense to lose weight
  5. I'm investigating the possibility of s bulk buy on Double D metric RoadSport cages. There is a thread started on FB market place and I thought I would investigate interest here and on PistonHeads as well. If you are keen please add your name to any of the threads on any platform. Please note by adding your name you are not committing to purchase at this stage, it is just so I can get an idea of numbers. Thanks Lawrence
  6. Can I get that cranking handle in carbon?
  7. The standard Caterham tilletts are not shown on the tillett product range and are only available through Caterham. The mounting holes on them are horizontal, so you would have to make up some brackets to adapt between them and the supports. Also, I am not sure you would have room to fit them unless you are buying an SV.
  8. Hi Marcus, I am 6 foot and it is ok for me. With the seat angled back I don't think there is much room between it and the bulk head. I have moved the steering wheel towards me a little and still could move the pedals back if required. I think I would try in the lowered floor pan holes first because the further you move the seat back the less you can angle it. The angle contributes significantly to the reduction of head height. I can take a few photos if that helps.
  9. I have done it to mine. I had to use tillett spacers to angle the seat back and ensure the weight is distributed correctly. In the weight lose thread I gave details. Lawrence
  10. Julian, my original floor was two piece, ali sheet and ply board, I am not sure what each weigh individually but combined they were over a kg. In reality I have no idea what my car weighs. I guess about 550 kg. It is a duratec which won't help for a start, I think the quoted weight is 540 kg but I am sure this will be for the most stripped out unpainted aero only car. I have a nominal target of 600 kg driver + car If anyone has a good guess of how much a 2015 Supersport R running, TB's, dry sump, a six speed box, but no heater would weigh I would be really interested. I have removed the windscreen, hood and doors, have a non FIA roll bar (full cage on order) plus all the other stuff documented on this thread. The only way to be sure of course is to have the meet up somewhere with scales.
  11. A bit more weight loss tonight. Finally the LH rear wing fixings replaced with nylon. 0.068 kg Boot floor, all the thanks to Julian for this one. 0.860 kg Screen wash bottle and fluid removed. 0.771 kg Total loss so far of 10.16 kg
  12. Good choice, you won't even notice they are missing.
  13. Few! You had me worried for a minute
  14. You're not thinking of ADDING weight are you?!!!! tut tut.
  15. I owned R2 BOY from Millwoods about 5.5 years ago. I kept it for four years and sold it before buying my new one.
  16. Hi Julian, Thanks for the PM. I had expected I would be buying additional passenger runners to use on the drivers seat but before getting them I thought I would take the seat out and have a look. The first thing I notice was the hole spacing was correct, they were a little further forward but given I was expecting to tilt the seat back I thought I would give it a go. I ordered about 20 tillett spacers, and some m5 studing from screw fix. I then played with the spacers to tilt the seat backwards and set it as low as possible (I am 6') with the base of the seat just touching the lowered floor. I screwed the studs in the seat base and stacked the spacers. A spot of superglue on the last one so I could turn it all upside down. The studs were already tapered so it was easy to line them up and slot them in place, before securing with nylocs Overall I was really pleased. I think I might move the pedals to the furthest forward position, to lower my knees a little, but it is very good as it is.
  17. I am on paternity leave at the moment so it is a bit busy in the Richards household, with a toddler and new born. That said, however, the continual weight reduction continues. Over the last few weeks I have been playing with the drivers seat to get the best comprise for aesthetics, weight loss and driving position. The priorities were in the reverse order. I have now got it just as I want and the added bonus is the seat runners are removed, and it is bolted directly on the floor with tiller spacers setting the angle. I am sitting about an inch lower and have saved 1.638 kg. Total weight saving is now aprox 8.3 kg and that does not include the +7 kg I have lost.
  18. Thanks for the suggestion 6SM. Some of these were on my list others I would have never considered.
  19. In order to get the very best driving position I have moved my steering wheel forwards by about 30 mm. This is the best option as I sit further back, maximising the benefit from the lowered floor. In addition I have straighter legs so my knees are lower and further from the wheel. The alternative is to move the pedals further back but I would loose some head room. Can anyone see any risks in making this change? Thanks
  20. I would be guessing but Mag MB's on the original R500k
  21. Does anyone have a pair of the Ali box section seat runners that are surplus to requirements Thanks
  22. I think you will need a new ECU as the Caterham ones are locked. If however ever you do manage to have it mapped I will be interested in you results.
  23. I got my car back from Caterham Midlands today, so this evening, after a reunion blat, the weight saving continues. 15 x M5 bolts on the pedal box and scuttle have been replaced with black nylon versions. Saving 46g, costing a few pence. I also tried to remove the ply from the boot foor, unfortunately Caterham seem to have glued the carpet to it at the PBC. So I will have another go at removing it when I have a bit more light over the weekend.
  24. If you have not spec'ed keyless entry or asked for the ignition barrel/steering lock not to be fitted then it will be on the car. The shear bolts will also be broken off. Mine was a shortage and came at her all the other boxes. Lawrence
  25. Wanted I am after a metric roll cage. I'm undecided between Roadsport and SLR so will consider either. Thanks
