    Fan Wiring

Hi Mark I think seperate wiring through a seperate inline fuse would be the way to go. Would it work to leave the original fan on standard thermostatic switch control and turn on the additional fan by the overide switch. Give me a ring I am at home tomorrow. John
  4. Alan Have just purchassed a Peugeot cable that comes as a kit with seperate solerdless nipples and will cut the cable to length John
  5. Help Has anyone sourced a throttle cable for a VX 16 valve standard injection. It is a standard Vauxhall part but Caterham and Vauxhall do not supply them anymore John
  6. Mine is a thick leather type washer but I would think fibre washers from a plumbers would do. You might nave to use several to make up the thickness as the plug is stepped and would bottom out before sealing. John

    A strange smell

A strange thing... Oil preassure higher than normal. Temperature higher than normal. A strange smell a the ECU warning light on and raised tickover when cold. Traced smell to battery...very dry although checked recently and hot. Topped up battery and run battery fluid bubbling *thumbdown* Measured acroos battery terminals with engine running 18 - 19 volts Replaced aternater brush / regulater assy with used spare now 14 volts running. All ok 😬 😬 John

    overheating

Paul If you top up the expansion bottle enough to ensure the fluid level in the bottle is at the same height or slightly hiher than the top of the rad. Make sure you have no air locks. squeese top and bottom hoses and initialy run with expansion bottle cap off to release any air. As coolant comes up to temperature (82 degrees) if you have a stat fitted the top hose should we warm and then become hot. John

    overheating

Hi Paul With engine cold ensure expansion bottle is topped up then unscrew the thermostatic switch carefully. Quickly remove it and coolant should flow out ensuring no trapped air at top of rad. Replace switch and re connect. Run engine fan should come on at 92 and go off at 87 degrees c. If the fan does not come on replace the themo switch with correct rating...87 to 92 these are standard parts available from motor factors. Thermo switches normaly have temperature ratings stamed on them. John
  11. Hi Joh I run a VX 2.0 injection and had similar problems when useing the flat Rover expansion tank. Always leaked from th cap after a good run. Just changed to a lager round VX tank from a Cavalier and mounted it drivers side or cross section with new brackets. Larger capacity, better preassure cap, and mounted higher (fluid level now above top of rad) Worked so far evn after a 100 mile run at high revs. Regards John

    Rear Suspension

JUST HAD TIS PROBLEM AFTER FITTING REAR ADJUSTABLE DAMPERS TO BILIES PHONED CATERHAM AND THEY SAID SPACE OUT THE DAMPER USING THE LARGE WASHERS ,TWO OR THREE BETWEEN DAMPER AND DEDION TUBE.
  13. Hi Richard Had lots of problems like these, seems to be shallow sump causing oil to be carried too high in engine up against crank. The subsequent crank thrash wipps up the oil introducing air and reduceing preassure. Reduceing the oil level causes oil suge whilst brakeing and sudden drop in preassure. Tried remote filter and Apollo tank and eventually modded sump by cutting/welding a channel in bottom to the depth of the ribbing and extending the pick up pipe allowing reduced level of oil in sump to eliminate crank thrash. Also reduced foam baffle to allow faster return of oil to pick up.
