  1. It´s juts because they realised it´s a fake one.... Picture here It´s 23cm long and can lift up to 50 kilos.... 😬
  2. There´ll be no lack of Hatz, no matter which plugs you´ve fitted..... 😬
  3. I used Champions, too, and had worse problems with misfires & difficult start up. Changed to NGKs et voilá .... sweet running engine.
  4. Steve, due to the LHD arrangement I had a big lump of an original Vauxhall-Astra alternator which put out enough power to feed New York City for 2 hours/day. really heavy, around 5.5 kilo. The head/camcover arrangement is from a Spiess Touring car engine, Spiess is the german Swindon..
  5. Sorry to hear that.... ☹️ Been there last year, at the morning of the Le Mans trackday... 🙆🏻 Make sure to check the engine block for cracks during rebuild. My VX block had a linear crack inside just above the crank, very hard to see.
  6. Dave, K´s and Duratecs are lardy lumps.... The future is featherweight VX.... 😬 here Some news on Le Sept, Dan ? I can´t eat that bloody mustard all on my own in France....
  7. Just fitted my new alternator bracket for the VX 2 litre engine. As it´s a LHD car the alternator is on the induction side, Caterham doesn´t offer a bracket for small race alternators. The local University here has luckily some petrolheads and so they machined a one-off alloy bracket for me. Really pleased with the result. New bracket and small alternator have shaved another 3 kilos from the car. Picture here
  8. Spigot bearing was what I was thinking of, too. Maybe when fitting the gearbox/bellhousing the main gearbox shaft has pushed it further into the crank and shaft is now not being lead by the bearing. Had the same on my first drive after the build. Hard to select certain gears, vibrations too. Go for it, Alex, the world is your oyster ! 😬 (P.S.: My engine´s out, too...)
  9. Hm, hope this does not sound too comercial. I can get hold of some very nice carbon-fibre items for the desk for very low prices, saw them at a trade-fare some weeks back and ordered them for myself. Thought some of you might like them, too. I´m selling them with close with very little profit to cover my costs. Just thought the prices were very tempting 😬 If some of you are intersted just send me mail, I can arrange shipping to the UK for about 7 euros. All Seveners get a discount of 10%. items here Edited by - Marius on 27 Dec 2004 19:17:44

    Mog Carbon

If Len Unwin or Freestyle do not have them on stock: Joachim is going to the Autosport mid January and could probably bring some parts with him. Nice way to save the shipping charges.
  11. Had problems with the quartermaster twin plate and then went for a SACHS race clutch, one plate only. Nice machined housing, quite, works well
  12. I also took the starter off and fiddled them through there. Worked fine with a 7.25" clutch/QED steel flywheel.
  13. Both CSRs at Paul Ricard crashed of which one only had a minor damage which looked like a new nosecone and a new radiator, did not look worse in any way. But they took the car out of the race for being not repairable quickly. Maybe this is another aspect of the new suspension ?!?! More fragile and not easy to repair ?! Just a thought.
  14. Hi Anthony, the idea is not that new. See here for a fitted version. MOG fitted it three weeks back on their demo car and it propelled us to a 8th place overall at the Paul Ricard 3 hours Caterham race. So it´s race proven.... 😬 Doesn´t raise the price though. No idea how much it is, you´ll have to ask Joachim at MOG for that. As ever: the customers decide....

    R500 30K

You lot wouldn´t like responses like that on your ads. Please think, then start typing. Or just leave it. A very well looked after R500 is worth that money.
  16. Mmmhhh, I just changed from a SBD external to the Caterham tank housing/system and that solved some problems. I prefer changing a leaking clutch cylinder (CC oil housing) once a year than using any other external setup. With any other system there are more hoses, cables and therefore possible chances for a failure. With the SBD system my engine had oil temperature exceeding 130°C very quickly when being kicked. From the day I had the Caterham system temperatures dropped to a healthy 90°-100°. No idea why, we checked everything. Pump was fine, sump was fine, I even had an oil-cooler which I don´t have now. Friend of mine in a similar car has the same problems with the system. Just a thought. Been there, would never go back.
  17. Friend of mine lost the oil pump crank pulley on the race R400, less than 4 seconds without oil pressure . Problem fixed, engine threw it´s rod on the next three laps.... The k´s can be a bit fragile, be carefull.
  18. My family used to have a boat in Florida, Gulf of Mexico, salty open water. After each run the engine cooling system got flushed with "normal" water with the help of some quick on connections. Should not be a problem to find something for your friends engine. Have fun.... 😬

    LCD dashs

Slightly of 7-topic: I want to fit a proper illuminated dash to my Ducati 996. Which ones are on the market available ? I already found the PI and AIM ones, both very nice. Any other suggestions ?
  20. My dutch engine builder had build three alloy VX 16 valves and said that it was a total nightmare to get the bearing tolerances at the crank / rods right. He didn´t recommend it, only if money is no object and overall win the aim.
  21. My Spiess camcover has also two exits for breath-tubes and that´s what I fitted. No oil being thrown out yet into the catch tank. Vent it High internal pressures might lead to earlier seal failure.
  22. *gong* Coffee-mug ready, croissant in reach Handbags, Ladies ! 😬
  23. I think SwissTony meant "lie" in terms of being situated somewhere in between, not "to lie" to somebody else. Joachims english is fan-bloody-tastic today compared to three years back so please be patient with him... Got my chips & Coke beside the PC now, can we please get on now ? *DONG* Next round 😬
  24. Do bears **** in the wood ? 😳
