  1. Thank you Dave, first time I've been spotted in 24 years. I really should get out more now that I've just retired.
  2. If it was a 40th Anniversary (silver bonnet stripe) it could have been me, I passed the Saxon Mill around that time from Kenilworth, on the way to a gathering at the Gaydon Motor Museum.
  3. I use the small CTEK XS 0.8 which has more than paid for itself by leaving it connected. Just checked my receipts and surprised to find that the current Banner battery I fitted in April 2011, rarely needs topping up and still holds a charge well. Must be due for a replacement soon but will be buying a Banner again for sure.
  4. I fitted a full set from Classic Silicone Hoses a few months ago on my K series with heater and the long hose is a different size at each end and replaces the 2 piece Caterham hose so no need to cut it and the join is eliminated.
  5. My 98 also has the gearbox to earth and had the same problem at mot in June. Moving the wire on the gearbox switch brought it back to life and it has worked each time since then.
  6. Mine was supplied in 1997 by Caterham with a K&N filter which I have just cleaned and oiled with the K&N kit which was in stock at Halfords.
  7. I fitted a full set of hoses and new jubilee clips a few weeks ago all supplied by Classic Silicone Hoses and used Comma Xtream G48 antifreeze. The J pipe was, as expected, a tight fit and I also fitted a bleed T at the top heater hose. After 200 miles all is well with no leaks from any hoses.
  8. I have a 1997 K and only this week changed all hoses to silicone but still struggled with the "U" even though the silicone hoses are more flexible. I was on the point of calling on a stronger neighbour when it finally went on with the aid of washing up liquid and all the strength I had after trying for about 15 minutes, working from above, and fitting at the thermostat first to allow more movement. I still have a new spare bought from Caterham about 5 years ago and it measures 30mm at both ends. The old one, just removed, has stretched to 33mm at the thermostat so it appears that brute force and lubrication is the answer.
  9. I noticed from your earlier question about the manual cam belt tensioner that yours may be an earlier car. Just checked my 1997 anniversary K and the rear fog light only works on dip beam with ignition on or off.
  10. Just checked the box on the Gates belt I last fitted to my 1.6 k and it's a 5238XS
