  2. Many thanks everyone. Just Couldn't see the connector on the starter motor! Must have been temporary madness. Fitted on now. More progress nearly there
  3. Have just put my 1.6 k engine back in today and have one wire left over! Schoolboy error i know. It is at back of engine quite long and is brown and red. Just Cannot see where it goes and wondered if anyone has an idea please Graham Holdstock
  4. Sorry Simon. Am locked in battle with engine upgrading to Class 2 spec. It is still out of the car as I am trying to teach myself cam timing! Work held up by freezing cold garage (need more heaters). Will sign up in due course regards Graham H
  5. Thanks Dave. Didn't want to bother you at Easter, Much appreciated
  6. Am risking asking the numpty question of the week. Have got everything prepared ready to install my Piper BP270 cams from DVA. However they are not marked inlet and exhaust like the old cams were by Caterham Are inlet and exhaust cams the same??? Hoping someone can assist as cant ask DVA till tuesday and trying to get it done!!! Many thanks
  7. Many thanks for your help. let me know if you want to sell it
  8. Good morning hoping for a bit of guidance please. Have my 1.6k engine on table in garage having just replaced rear crank oil seal. That job is done. Engine is due cam belt and tensioner and am hoping to fit 633 cams and verniers while it is out. However when removing the crank pulley the bolt/washer was siezed on the pulley and twisted the pulley at the moment of loosening. This resulted in the little D shaped lug that locates the pulley on the timing gear breaking off as the pulley moved. So now need a new crank timing gear. Question is ---is that going to be easy to replace? Does it need any special procedure etc Any assistance much appreciated Thanks
  9. Used a sharpened screwdriver and sleeve now removed. will order one tomorrow. Many thanks for guidance. Just need to get new one in now!
  10. Have got my 1.6k engine out to replace crank oil seal which is done. Whilst researching I read on blatchat that replacing the spigot bearing is a good idea while it is out so i attempted to replace yesterday. This turned into a major battle taking some time and now have some slight damage to the sleeve mainly around the edge and some rough bits inside that I was going to gently grind smooth again before installing the new bearing. Looks to me that there is sufficient sleeve to proceed but if anyone thinks that is too risky could you give me a clue how to remove the sleeve please!! Many thanks Graham Holdstock
  11. Thanks Dave and Richard -will make a plan. Hope you are well Richard and making progress with the rebuild. Thanks for all the advice this season.
  12. Good morning. Hope someone can assist---I have a 2003 1.6 k and the rear crank oil seal needs changing (also want to change CRB and cam belt etc...)----just wanted to check if you can remove engine without gearbox? thought i saw a thread on this a while ago but cannot find anything now. Just want to make sure there is enough room to move engine far enough forward many thanks Graham Holdstock
  13. Hi -- found this thread after a search as I have the very same problem. My K was weeping a little oil out of the join between sump and bell housing. At the sprint at Curborough lots more oil came out at side of engine round bell housing and I was advised to change sump gasket. On the M42 home was ok and no more than usual. This was done a few weeks ago and re torqued up a second time using settings in this thread, Unfortunately oil is still weeping out of the join when car is standing and when running. Leak increases on a run out. I am concerned about crank oil seal but there is no trace of any oil on the flywheel' Wondered if Jetto finally cured it and if so how??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. Hi Richard---if you still have room I would like to join you. Please let me know Many thanks Graham Holdstock Class 1
  15. You were correct----earth wire goes on to a screw inside headlight. Have now sorted out and done the first one so many thanks Richy and Adrian
