    Travelling Abroad

HI I live in France with a 7 Sprint and I can tell you that you will not have any problem with fuel. Be careful on Sundays, and take your credit card with you in case of automatic pump delivery. Enjoy your trip, you can choose the scenic road on a Michelin map, those underlined in green colors. There is also some specialist near Paris, at Rambouillet Auto Arc distribution and in Vals les bains the Caterham agent. There is also Caterham competition in Ribautes les Tavernes near Ales in the south. Ask Caterham their numbers or e-mail me eric@bonzai.fr But I am sure you will not need them. Eric
  2. Thank you very much for your answers. It help me very much
  3. Owner manuel says that valve must be change every 12000 miles. On the 1600 GT only, sprint and supersprint don't have this ? What is the use of it ? Why only GT have this valve ? GT owners can remove it ? Thank for your help
  4. Someone could advise me a good oil for X-flow ?
  5. If Caterham sales it why don't you buy from them ? Don't forget that we must help Caterham to live. They always gives us good advise and their products are good. (I will say excellent) Free publicity Best regards Eric
  6. You MUST use EP 90 oil not GREASE, very important !!!!!!!! regards Eric
  7. James, Me too, I had the pilot from Michelin, it was 7 days ago. I changed it for Yoko A 539 in 195/50 15". They are cheap, less than £ 180 for a set of 4. They are absolutely fabulous compare with Pilots. Better steering, better grip on the dry but also on the wet(the reason why I change the pilot). If you want ultimate performance on track days, go for 185/60 13 with Yoko 032 R in soft. But if you drive a lot, It is not a good advise for your wallet. This kind of tyre will last 3000 miles and the price is double than A 539. From my side, as it is a Christmas present : I will keep the A 539 for road and travels. 15" gives you good speed on road and motorways. May be for my next or following birthdays, new minators and 032 Yoko would be highly recommanded as parcel, but I am quite sure it will be a financial trap more than real difference on the road. ( I am not Schumacher on the road or on the circuit)
  8. Hi Andy My speedbox is a 5 speeds. The Schell Spirax EP 80 give me lower results than the Ford Oil (replacement item). Can I use that . Do you know that Steve Perks (gearbox specialist) advises Redline Shockproof oil ? I have not tried yet In any case, the Ford Oil give me the best results
  9. Thanks Nigel Happy new year to you
  10. John The LTS tyre you are speaking are in France avalaible as Yoko 038 but as you said LTS means that it is a tyre exclusivekly for Lotus (Elise in particular) In case of serious accident your insurance will not pay. It seems to be as a 032R, very good in the dry (when warm !), not so bad or no so good in the wet. It is an expensive tyre, about 400£ for a set of 4. My A 539 Yoko 195/50 15 are now on my 7. They look very nice, steering is light. For the grip I must wait for 150 miles at least
  11. I have changed the Ford oil for Schell spirax EP 80 Cold : the Ford oil is much better, the speed change is smoother they never crack (with the Schell the 2nd gear does sometimes) Hot : Schell spirax EP 80 seems good (as the Ford item) Result : I will test again but I think to come back to Ford Oil
  12. Hi Pierre merry christmas, me too I have a starter button, but mine is black. And I have no key just a general switch. regards
  13. Yoko seems to be the best, but which one ? Thanks to all helps
  14. A539 yokohama were hardly recommanded. They are in my garage and very soon on my car. (Christmas present) I have no doubt they are very good, concerning the persons who advises me.
  15. If you cannot find right cable. Go to your RENAULT agent and find a renault 4L Batterie which is perfectly fitted to your tray. and with round connector. You can have the ref on my site www.bonzai.fr regards
  16. I cannot see any differences on photos between : superalite and minator Who can help me ?
  17. Hi Pierre I am not a beginner Regards Eric
  18. Hi John, There are about 10 Seven (Lotus and Caterham)and 2 Martin and 2 Donkervort that < In Marseille I know 5 Caterham, 2 Xflow (mine included), 1 1600 rover 115 HP, 1 VVC, 1 caterham live axle with BDA 3 Lotus :1 serie 2, 1 serie 2 with twin cam and 1 only bare chassis as serie 2 1 Donkervort with a 18 year old girl as driver and a big A ( same as L for learner)on the spare wheel Most of them don't move a lot, except mine twice per week The orange one, never seen but I know that there are one or two moving like gost in the town Tomorow I will see with a friend (for him), a Caterham Cosworth with a BDR under the bonnet. May be one more in Marseille
  19. Hi Pierre, It is made in France, the oil is 300 V le mans is 15W50 or 15W60 and is recommanded for competition use or hard use. In one word : very good oil, not cheap : 130.00 FF for 2 litres The 300 V exists in chrono, which is a thinner oil (not for us) There is also a Gear 300 Oil for box. All are pure synthetic products From my side, I will test the Schell Spirax G 80 for the box as recommended here. If it is not good enough, I will test redline Shockproof
  20. My engine is a 1600 Sprint x-flow. I have found the same problem described in the archives. The amusing thing is that the noise is worst with 2 persons in the 7. I will try the Schell spirax G80 as oil for my speed box and I will see. I have the Ford Oil but not the good one (The good one is impossible to get from now) Concerning Cassis and all the area around, it is very nice and it is of course my playing ground with my Caterham. Concerning the weather, it is true that we have chance but don't think there is no cold, there is some. Anyway, I use the 7 all the year and the best time to use is : spring, autumn, and the nights of summer. I hope you can come again in our area. eric@bonzai.fr

  22. Peter, Do you change it often ?
