    transmisssion noise

I have forgotten to say that the car is : a sprint with 5 speeds gearbox and a 3.92 De dion without lsd
  6. Hi everybody, I have a zin zin noise and the transmission, I don't know if there is the gearbox or the de dion which is noisy. The noise is coming when I am in 4th or 3rd in the area of 3000 to 2000 rev and disapear if I use the neutral point. Who knows that ? Many thanks
  7. Hi Mike Me too, I have a mettalic noise like zin zin when I lift off the throttle in 4th and 3rd (not much in 5 th) in the area of 3000 to 2000 rev. My car is a sprint engine de dion 5 speed and I am worried about that.
  8. I don't want to change the 3.92 but just fit new items inside
  9. Is it possible to change the Ford parts inside the 3.92 De Dion (not LSD) or are we obliged to change all the De Dion supplied by Caterham. Who knows the Ford part number of the inside of the de dion Many Thanks

  12. So do I understand that red oil (heavy shockproof) is not good for gearbox ?
  13. Who uses heavyshock proof red line oil and can speak about this product ? Is it a good choice for a noisy gearbox ? Many thanks
  14. 1600 sprint 30 000 miles with me, I don't know before because I bought this former race car without any speed counter .... One valve bent when I bought it. 3 clutch cables broken in 3 weeks, on LHD, the way is long, so I change for hydraulic then no problem since. Head changed for unleaded, the engine runs 98 UL and with 15W50 oil, no oil consumption, the engine seems to be in very good shape. 5 speed box noisy but it must be an problem of oil viscosity The car is 10 years old, to me for 3.5 years I hope to reach 80000 miles
  15. Hi I know that the life of an engine depends on the way of use it. But I have heard that R500 have very short life and X-flow GT a very long life. Could you tell me about your car, the mileage and the level of health of your engine, circuit use or not, daily use ... It could be interesting concerning the reliability
  16. Chris the only figures, I have are inlet valves : 1.555" Exhaust valves : 1.340" Do you think they are good figures
  17. Chris I have a stage 2 UL head made by Burton power, what do you think of the quality of it (ported, gas flowed ...)

  19. 1600 cc+ Stage 2 HEAD + A2 Camm + 2 Webers The best up grade would be to change A2 for a 234 0R to fit an 3D mapped ignition The system running is an Aldon 103 FXY with points and condenser + Lucas DLB 105 + Lucas speedlead + NGK BP7ES many thanks
  20. With an aldon distributor, the ignitor runs perfectly
  21. I have a 1600 with a stage 2 head, 2 Webers 40 Dcoe and A2 cam. Who knows if it is some benefits to change the cam for a 234 or something else
  22. Hi If you can, keep with your X flow, your car will stay original. From my point of view, you can do any upgrade with an original basis. All our car are a part of the Caterham history which is a part of the Lotus history

  24. I glued them in 1998, with clear silicon (same in your bathroom) Clean the inside of the wing before (with alcool, not wisky or vodka to remove the dust and oil) Put a lot to fit the wingstay in it. Let them dry for one or Two days and you will never lost them

    Travelling Abroad

Automatic pumps are not so numerous. And I hope they will not be in next future. The frenchmen don't like them. So I am sure you will not have fuel problem. I never had even the Sunday. The only thing I do, is to refuel at the middle of the tank. But I do that with any car.
