  1. I'll have one, based in Wycombe so can collect. Assuming one left :) email domcolbeck...at...hotmail Cheers Dom
  2. Oli, flog it on ebay. I got rid a shelf for one of my cars this way. It'll go like hot cakes - probably for more than 75 GBP. Start the bidding at half that etc. Cheers Dom
  3. I may be interested in the all-carbon ones as I fancy a pair for the Ultima build I am doing. Keep me informed of prices and timings etc. Need to check the buggers will fit tho'... dom.colbeck at draftlondon.com - many thanks. Regards Dom
  4. Cheers Matt. If anyone is interested there is a website on the car at: http://www.geocities.com/domsteruk2000/lotus_carlton.html
  5. Yes it is a left hooker (sorry I left that out). No, it is not crashed. (All wings are original, no dodgy weld lines where they shouldn't be, everything is square). The price reflects the mileage and fact that my new car arrives in three weeks, and I don't want to be a three car household! It is priced in between trade value and the maximum I could get privately. The car is absolutely genuine and I have owned it for over 2 years, been in the member's club all that time and the car is well known. The prices for the Lotus Carltons have gone down a fair bit in the last year, and even low mileage RHD ones don't sell above 20k. Rgds Domster
  6. Suitable second car for a sevener, as it has a boot, locking doors and a 187mph top end. Good original condition and only cheap because I have a new car arriving very soon. Standard chip and generally unmolested. 1993K reg, 76k miles, lots of bills for the things that typically go wrong with Lotus Carltons, inc little extras like new clutch, strengthened timing chain, top end engine rebuild and a device that makes VR6 Golfs disappear from your rear view mirror at 130mph (called 'the accelerator pedal'). 9500 GBP Based in Oxon/Bucks, call 01494 464781 or 07990 518430. Email dcolbeck@draftuk.com
  7. This would also make a lovely and interesting COFFEE TABLE... Think about it: remove the head (beyond me, I'm afraid!), clean it up, make a small metal stand for the engine mounts to bolt onto, then put a sheet of safety glass on the cylinder head. Errr, just like the F1 engine coffee tables, but with the famous K-series in the starring role. You could even say it comes from an R500 and impress the neighbours. Unless your neighbours are Dave Andrews and Peter Carmichael. Glass is about 50-100 quid from a glazier, and can be mounted on small clear rubber grommets. And if you don't want it yourself, why not auction it for charity for NTL... I will provide the engine for free - come on, who fancies a quick and easy project for a good cause? Domster
  8. Come on Arnie, you could do with my spare engine - why not put it in the boot - twin engines are all the rage these days wink.gif
  9. OK... Mum's the word re Mark's new toy. Does anyone want the engine, by the way? Eeee, 1.4 K series engines... can't give 'em away these days wink.gif
  10. Hi Mark Garage clear-out only, I'm afraid, although Dave Andrews has a few ideas as far as K-series engines go! I think I am going with the red RS I told you about, it's all checked out quite well, and should be ready for a final check in about three weeks. I will then try and nab you for a look over it, as the owner will then keep it for a week to get it MoT'd and sort out any little bits that need doing. In the event of it being a munter, he'll give me my deposit back. Can't wait... How's the Superlight R search going? Rgds Domster
  11. Sorry to cross post, but hopefully NTL may make a few quid. I have a 1.4 16v Mpi K-series engine, 68k miles in excellent order and fully crated. It was removed from a K or L reg Rover 214 when the owner upgraded to a 1.8 lump. Therefore, the head gasket is presumed to be good, and there has been no valve or head damage because of snapped belts etc. Power output should be 101bhp. It is the basic engine, no manifolds etc. although it comes with a set of injectors. I'm not sure what Dave Andrews reckons to tuning these (the head and valves may need a fair bit of work), but it may be that the block and bottom end is the same as on the supersport spec K-series engines. It would also suit someone who is interested in these engines, and wants to take it apart for a good look etc. Crated, the engine is based in Bradford, Yorks, and is simply going because my parents need some garage space. I had it as a 'spare' engine for my second car, a Rover 414. The 'buyer' collects. Although the engine is being given away, I would suggest a small donation to Nuke the Leuk, and in the event of more than one person wanting the engine, the highest donation takes it. Contact me at dcolbeck@draftuk.com or on 01494 464781. All the best Domster

  13. I may have mentioned 'tappets' in the plural sense erroneously - I need to check whether it is a problem with just one, as haven't confirmed that yet. How do you measure the valve lift to tell if oil pump is working fine? Cheers Domster
  14. Hi John My theory was that the valve clatter was being caused by the back pressure, or the heat build-up. I had a new head placed on the car about 15k miles ago, but not sure whether the garage reused the old tappets. It was from one of those head places, and I can't remember whether they supply cams and tappets too, or whether you use your old ones. If old the tappets could have failed, I suppose... cheers for the thought. Rgds Domster
  15. Hi guys My second car, a Rover 414i MPi 16v, 75k miles on an N reg, is misbehaving. It feels like a blocked cat to me, or maybe dodgy tappets, but what do I know? The symptoms are: - engine OK if I don't rev it past about 3.5k - engine on overrun feels awful - if I back off the engine feels leaden and can even start to pink quite badly - valve clatter is excessive - engine not keen to rev above about 4k (even despite the fact I haven't fitted a Supersport kit to it!) Any thoughts appreciated Cheers Dom
